Renogy LiFe Po Smart Batteries connected in series using Victron Balancer for 24V system?

Is it possible to connect these Batteries in series to get 24V using the Victron Balancer as a safety measure. The note on the Battery indicates you cannot connect them in series but if the Batteries have a BMS inernally and you use the Victron Balancer would this work or are you still risking damage to the Batteries.
The new series Renogy CORE LiFe Po Batteries can be connected in series but the previous model batteries are not recommended . Is this because they are a pouch type cell internally?
Has anyone had the experience to use the Renogy SMART 12V LiFePo batteries in series without any problems?

Restrictions on placing them in series has to to with the BMS, not the cells. If a BMS enters protection mode, ONE BMS will be subjected to system voltage, and will pop.

If it says don't put them in series, don't put them in series.
