When I built my system, I used a resistor to pre-charge the equipment when I made the final connection to close the circuit.

Solar array is ~75V/ 30A
Battery is LiFePO4 bank 24V/ 600A

Now I need to swap the solar charge controller.
The breaker switch between panels and controller is off. Solar charge controller manufacturer says to add a breaker between controller and battery as well (which I will do).

Do I need to pre-charge again while connecting the charge controller?

This is my new charge controller:

(IMPinvt 80A model)

Pre-charging is usually only when you connect an inverter, not a charge controller. While both have capacitors, the ones in an inverter tend to be much bigger, causing a very high inrush current - and hence a big spark. This shouldn't be an issue with a solar charge controller.
