Apologies for asking this question that I maybe could have put more effort into researching. It my not great defense, there is not a sticky on this yet.

I am thinking about building a 100ah 16s pack with a mid tier JBD contactor BMS.

This might be available for about $1000 but then I am thinking of the features of a server rack battery that are not included, namely the built in breaker and precharge resistor.

Is there a consensus solution for these? I assume a breaker or fuse is considered required, and relying on the contactor is not a good idea. It is very hard to tell what kind of DC breakers are at all reliable. Is there a Square D product I can use?

And then if I do have the breaker/fuse will precharging with a lightbulb work? When I do that on a lead acid bank I sometimes still get a small spark when I make main contact. Will that upset the BMS?
