Understanding Overload Bypass (23) on 6500 inverters?

I searched the Forum and did not see any real explanation on what happens AFTER the Overload Bypass occurs. Will it not transfer back to battery after the initial inrush settles down? This to me sounds like something that we would want on? Can someone who uses this feature explain what happens during and after this process? Thanks!!
