Victron ESS Response Time Measurement

I’ve stared into space for hours trying to fit in AC coupled PV into my design, researched the available technology, and twice decided it was more trouble and complexity than I wanted. See the Victron 1:1 rule on AC-coupled PV. If I wake up one day and say, “That’s what I need!” then it will happen. The efficiency is certainly a good reason.

Double the AC wattage in full sun. Zero additional idle current or power consumption taken from battery.

System is sitting with GT PV wattage either maxed out (100% going to loads and/or being pulled down into battery), or curtailed to match load + charging.

A/C kicks on. Battery inverter provides starting surge (so A/C running wattage better not be more than ~20% of inverter surge capability), and in a couple seconds frequency shift adjusts GT PV output to carry the additional load (if not already at max.)

Obviously something you only want to happen when there is plenty of sun.

If Victron allows AC coupling on its load port (rather than on generator port like some HF AIO), it also lets you deploy GT PV on outbuildings.
