Warranty transfer when buying previously purchased batteries?

I have a lead on some S O K 48v PRO version batteries. Seller says they were purchased 4 months ago in a lot of 12 for a project and these were not needed, that they are still boxed. How would a warranty transfer on previously purchased batteries?

What should I look out for when buying them. I am totally unfamiliar with them at this point.

If we can look up original proof of purchase in our system, or you can provide it (i.e. you have receipt from who you bought from), then we can provide warranty support.

Wouldn't there be a serial number on the battery that you could look up?

We didn't start tracking serial numbers to orders for quite a while - and some batteries were sold outside of the US - so we could be turning down warranties that were actually valid if we used this approach.

Proof of purchase is nice because both you and me would have a copy to reference.
