Will Deye / Sunsynk charge battery from existing PV inverter via AC grid port?

one more thing if I dont get batteries straight away can I still have the deye inverter run and have loads connected to the backup port on the inverter in prepreation for batteries

You can, but it won't run pretty..
You solar must always sustain your loads and self usage
You'd be better off not connecting it through the load port, just the grid port, and select no battery.
This will turn you deye in a simple grid tied inverter until the time you have batteries.
This way you won't "loose" power

so it wouldnt supplement the backup side with grid power in the case of no batteries?
