Will this work for pre-charging inverter capacitors?

Hey guys, just wanted to ask a question on what resistor I can use.

I'm able to find a 30ohm 10w or 50w resistor. If I'm correst the ohm's are what matter, the wattage is how fast the cappasitors will charge correct?

My inverter is a 12v 3000va Victron Multiplus 2. Which resistor will be best to pre charge the caps?

Thanks!
Either will work fine.

The resistance determines the current that will be allowed through.
The wattage is the rating for how much energy the resister can handle.

If you hook a 30 ohm resistor across a 12 volt circuit, it will allow 12/30 = .4A

.4A with 12V will create .4 x12 = 4.8W of heat from the resistor.

However..... You could get away with a much lower wattage resistor because the current will start at .4A and very rapidly drop off to zero.
