Wind power ??

That appears to be primarily focused on data for utility scale wind, not "wind turbine" data but wind data. There's a difference.

I certainly didn't see anything related to actual small wind turbine energy production data. If there's something there that applies to data for a particular small wind turbine I'd appreciate a specific link.

Looks like I'm still waiting for actual small wind turbine data.. Deep sigh.... always the bridesmaid never the bride.

The WIND Toolkit includes instantaneous meteorological conditions from computer model output and calculated turbine power for more than 126,000 sites in the continental United States for the years 2007–2013. It features three data sets:

  • The meteorological data set includes basic information on the weather conditions in each 2-km x 2-km grid cell. The meteorological data set also includes parameters such as wind profiles, atmospheric stability, and solar radiation data in those cells. This complete data set is not yet publicly available, though some of the data is made available with the power data set.
  • The power data set was created using the wind data at 100-meter hub height and site-appropriate turbine power curves to estimate the power produced at each of the turbine sites.
  • The forecast data set includes forecasts for 1-hour, 4-hour, 6-hour, and 24-hour forecast horizons.

Everything I've researched says small turbines are a waste. I've been interested in the concept of a large squirrel cage fan on a roof or ridge that the wind gets funneled up though. I may play with it someday just for giggles. ?
Depends what the wind is like where you live. If there are any trees/buildings nearby which disrupt the wind currents

I have a near-ocean-living-friend who is dump loading nearly 24/7 with a 700w turbine. The wind always seems to be blowing at his place.

I (living in suburbia central) put up a cheap 400watter from ebay, my neighbors had a huge tree which caused a lot of turbulence (I hypothesize). I yielded about 4wh in 6 months. I would have been better off buying another battery.

I live in a different house/area now at the top of a gentle hill that gets a lot of strong constant wind, I'm thinking of trying one of those 6-10 blade turbines for a bit of fun.

's..., there's a turbine manufacturer you've mentioned in that list above that you'd not heard of a few weeks ago.
Ooohh.. which one was it? I probably should mention that I've worked on Nordtank's, Carters, and EnerTech's

It's exciting to learn that you are doing your research on me but it's sad that you have totally failed to acknowledge that engineers (you are an engineer, right?) live solely in the world of data and if you can't back up your statements with data it's just an opinion.

good lord guys what a "discussion" I think you are all( almost all) right .I have been doing wind for 19/20 years, and can say this compared to solar it sucks, but unless you live near a stream, river, waterfall, geyser or something with motion its one of the few ways to create power in the dark, and winter sometimes). I choose to incorporate as we already have it running. Am shopping for a new unit though
