Wire size between parallel batts

Can I use 2/0 between batts and then 4/0 to the distributor? 4x100Ah batts.

You can, but there will be some voltage drop.

I am helping another feller with his setup and he has the batts installed already with 2/0. I do what you do. 4/0 for a 12V 3000kVA system for me.

One reason to keep all the wires the same is in case a situation happens that requires you only being able to use 2 batteries.
