Hi,

A UK Newbie here, looking for trusted local stock of plug and play batteries such as EG4 or Jakiper. But without the USA shipping?

I've seen brands like Pylon but wondering if anyone in UK or Europe have a trusted brand they can recommend, please?

Many thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Seplos have stock in the Netherlands now of their server rack LFP batteries

havent found a eu reseller of server rack batteries yet.
have talked to richard @ signature solar, and they are looking at a distri, but nothing final yet.

i was told seplos has/had some stock in the UK, but have no idea if that is still the case, nor what pricing would be

Not for sever rack batteries no.
What battery option did you go for if not for server rack? I'm trying to map my options if you don't mind telling...

I contacted signature solar as well. They are willing to ship through a forwarder of my choice, but that would add up a lot in the end. I'm kinda baffled about the lack of options here in Europe compared to US.

Demand is a lot less in Europe than it is in the States. The grid almost never goes down, much denser living, more people living in apartments, off-grid is rare, etc.

I think Pylontech has been available for quite some time, for example from:

Thank you for your reply! Def worth looking into!

I just came across OSM Battery manufacturer in Shenzhen China. See attached pdf with product details. @Alber C seems to be the representative from the company and is active on the forum as well.

Prices including shipping DDP to Europe are on par with signature solar it seems. I haven't ordered yet, but I'm strongly considering. First waiting for my inverter to arrive these coming days.

What would you guys think of this battery?

At this moment, there isn't much interest in Europe. We don't have a lot of offgrid / tiny houses as the US/Canada does, grid is reliable and usually easy to get connected.

So from a financial point of view, there is not much demand for these packs. I expect this to change the coming years, but at this moment, the early adaptors use them because they can, not because it's economically viable.

In Belgium, the planned upcoming changes for grid will make it more interesting (keep peak usage low and use batteries for peak shaving - thus decreasing the monthly connection fees).

In the Netherlands we still can +/- any solar energy, so as long as that's the case you can't invest in batteries from a money point of view. That will change, since this allowance is going to change, making it more interesting to store solar energy locally.

Thank you for your reply! I am aware of the regulations yes. I guess I am an early adapter? :)

I want to use my battery in combination with an energy supplier that's working with dynamic pricing. I'm planning on charging the battery with solar/off-peak energy, and supplying the stored energy back into the grid during peak hours.

Haven't found anything which states it's prohibited to do so. The difference in tariffs will give a financial reward when used with storage, so even though The Netherlands is still on net metering, it can still be financially interesting to start using a storage system already.

Fully agree. Scandinavia is one of the places of interest for these offgrid setups.

Also, Portugal and Spain, I've build some packs for people with holiday houses which only have solar and batteries

Difficult to give an opinion on, too little details... There are other vendors that make this kind of form factor in China, and I have the feeling this is going to be similar to all the cell vendors, and it might be a problem identifying reliable sources.

I got in touch with Jakiper who are more than happy to ship to the UK for $1700 ea if you order 4+ and will take 2 months.

I personally need to wait to get a Smart Meter installed so I can charge on the Octopus 7.5p tariff overnight. Scottish Power or Octopus don't want to install one!

By the time I get the Smart Meter installed they will have come down in price :)

DM me if you want contact details.
