@AZ Off-Gridder any news?
Finally working on it now. Earth rod in the ground connected to the Generators frame ground. Using a 3 prong cord again. Trips GCFI again…. I’m gonna try to call MPP or Watts247@AZ Off-Gridder any news?
You'll probably have better luck with Ian, at watts247.Finally working on it now. Earth rod in the ground connected to the Generators frame ground. Using a 3 prong cord again. Trips GCFI again…. I’m gonna try to call MPP or Watts247
Does it trip immediately or is there some delay? Finally working on it now. Earth rod in the ground connected to the Generators frame ground. Using a 3 prong cord again. Trips GCFI again…. I’m gonna try to call MPP or Watts247
It’s every single time. There seems a small delay. Yes. But I’ve tried lots and it always trips….. unless I remove the ground prong then it doesn’t trip, but it only charges intermittently then so it’s not a solution. Charges for a few seconds on and off. One time I got it to charge for 12 minutes straight. That’s with ground plug removedDoes it trip immediately or is there some delay?
If there is delay, is it random or determinate?
Is the delay constant or random? It’s every single time. There seems a small delay. Yes. When you say neutral bonding screw you mean disconnect the white neutral wire from the unit? Correct? For AC inputIs the delay constant or random?
Assuming its constant it means you have a 100% reproducible issue.
For a test, I suggest you open the unit and remove the neutral bonding screw.
See if that makes the gfci trip stop happening.
If it does we have determined that your problem is 2 n/g bonds.
No.When you say neutral bonding screw you mean disconnect the white neutral wire from the unit? Correct? For AC input

Inside inside, like actually opening up the unit? Not just the connection panel? I’m not doing that sorry I can’t risk that. Not unless advised by MPP repsNo
It's a screw inside the inverter, on the main board.
Just be aware that you could void your warranty, if you open it up.
Ok. So after seeing that MPP told him it was ok I might change my mind. But why do I need to do this?
Oh…. Well then it’s not going to fix anything as I stated when ground prong was removed it didn’t totally solve it. Yes I get constant 120v input uninterrupted and no GCFI trip. But the charging function is not constant. It comes and goes I can get a video. Batteries are low enough it should be chargingRemoving the screw, would be the same as Removing the ground prong, from the cord.
Actually , I wouldn't worry about the removed ground prong. As long as it is only ever plugged into a GFCI receptacle.
Is it possible that the unit is flipping to inverter mode and that is why the batteries stop charging?Oh…. Inverter is off in these scenariosIs it possible that the unit is flipping to inverter mode and that is why the batteries stop charging?
If the generator is not too loud you might here the bypass relay click coinciding the the charger stopping.
