Agreed. I bring a generator and battery charger to EVERY off grid service call. If batteries are dead, nothing can work.

You already have the cerbo, i recommend the touch 50 screen for display. Then you are not relying on internet monitoring. From there im sure you could pinpoint your own problem and really see what the system is doing.

Dart at the wall, i suspect dead batteries at the least.

DON'T JUDGE! I HAVE been trying to figure this out. IT WAS NOT DONE RIGHT so I am having a HELL OF A TIME!

ALSO THIS IS A 48 VOLT system IT IS DANGEROUS for someone who has NO clue about any of this!!!! Yeah lets mess with it and kill yourself this is NOT a 12 v system tyvm for not helping and being rude.

It's clear the batteries are dead on the 48V side.

Are you able to get a pair of jumper cables and run them from a vehicle to the 12v side of your system to see if the generator will start?

I assume you have gas or propane to fuel it and the generator is built in to the 5th wheel?

We have a cold snap coming this weekend and I'm sure you want to be up and running.
 
If you all must know, I had my own pet sitting buisiness in So Cal. I am also photographer and was a dog breeder, I know nothing of electric stuff.

I was with someone who wired this all up wrong, we decided to call it quits, but I have no where else to go right now.
I am in this rig until my sick girl passes away, and then I plan to build out a van and travel the country. I do not want to mess with a 48 v system and kill myself at least not until I loose my girl.

I need someone to come here, or please dont comment, I will not mess with this system myself. Beleive me I have done A LOT with the generator and some minor things with the system to get the power back on in the past, but the generator was not broken then. The mechanic took it apart and it had a busted in half rocker switch. It is dead and new generators are not working........its a wiring mess nightmare. The gfci always being trigger when the generator was on and not being able to run anything while the generator was on or it would shut off with code 15 and 36, that is NOT normal and has been going on the whole time, but we got by.....now there is no getting by...........

An electrician did get the heat on today, but not sure how long for since it is a temporary bandaid......

The 48 volts are not dead.
I did jump the 12 volts before but they wont stay on
I have 100 gall propane tank they deliver.
The Onan gen WAS hooked into the system, not anyomre they tore it apart, its beyond repair. Probably broke from all the strain of incorrect wiring since it was only 13 months old.
Finally got an external generator to work for the moment it has been on for about an hour and allowing the 12 volt to send heat in, but once it shuts off so does the heat....

Ariel is very frustrated as I would certainly be just like everyone else.
Many responses here were USELESS which makes it even more frustrating.

Ariel please see my first post so you can edit the Tile and put in the closest City & your state, there MAY BE SOMEONE CLOSE BY and you want to catch their attention !

48 Volts is NOT Dangerous and will NOT kill you. A good "zap" but that's about it unless there is an electrical fault but battery voltage is irrelevant if that happens.
 
Victron is definitely quality equipment. If you are going to do the work yourself on getting it going again, then you will need to do certain things. The first thing that comes to my mind is what others have suggested and that is the state of the 12 Volt batteries. In order to determine that you will need a voltmeter. You can purchase one online or at harbor freight.

Your 42 foot 5th wheel probably has a battery monitor somewhere on the wall. Push the monitor and see what it says.

You also need a meter to determine the state of charge of the 4 batteries comprising the 48 volt battery. The information is critical for us to help you.

I think that the first thing is to know the state of charge of the batteries.
 
Consider searching for a mobile RV repair technician. Sometimes they are more familiar with the RV systems than general tradesmen.
 
Take your destiny in you own hands and watch some of Will Prowse's videos on a simple system like you have. IF you take the time to educate yourself you will not be dependent on the kindness of strangers or the knowledge of local so called experts. Look through all his early videos and begin to learn. Here is one.
Also hard to watch videos when I have no power which mean no internet. I am in the middle of no where no service....... I have to go to town just to check my internet. I cant leave my girl home alone to long to watch videos and I cannot bring her. You do not know what I am going though. I wanted someone to come out to help, not give links to videos I cannot watch or even know what to do. This is not starting from scratch, this is a super mess, that many educated men could not figure out.

You joined a DIY forum. Unfortunately most of the support here will be centered around you performing task.

You need to search locally for mobile RV techs that have electrical experience and generator repair.

Expect to pay $70+ per hour and travel expenses.

If that's not possible...you may want to learn how your system works.
 
Late to the party but do you have Victron Connect on your phone? You could learn a lot about your system if you got familiar with that free app.

You could even send us some screen shots.

No internet means no one can help you remotely. For future reference if there is anyway you could get that CerboGx talking to VRM you could get a lot of help and check on your system when you are away from it.

If I walked up to something like that I would unhook everything and start over hooking one thing back up at a time.
 
Unfortunately, on a Cerbo system, the only thing VC is likely to talk to is the MPPT and a BMV-712 or smartshunt. I'm 99% sure the Lynx shunt is NOT BT enabled.

If you have a computer on the same network, opening a browser to http://venus.local should give access to the remote console of the cerbo, but with a touch screen there's no real advantage to it.

Based on what I see:
Dual Quattro 48/5kVA
MPPT 250/85 connected to Cerbo via VE.Can
Lynx shunt on VE.Can

I would presume the Quattro system is between the shore power/generator and the 12V system, i.e., the stock or similar converter w/12V battery is still in place rather than having a 48-12V converter. This is my preferred method.

I have a highly similar setup:
2X exact same inverters setup for 120/240VAC split phase
MPPT 250/100 on ve.direct instead of 250/85 on VE.Can
BMV-702 on ve.direct instead of lynx shun ton VE.Can

The front of each inverter where I can see the wired connections.
If it has power, your touch screen showing the pictures of the various devices. Will look similar to this:

I charge my system with a cheap crappy $400 Predator generator from Harbor freight. With the appropriate pictures, we can likely identify your system configuration and provide instructions for connecting a generator either on a DIY basis or to provide additional information to a professional electrician.

I can’t believe someone in Grants Pass or Medford can’t help. Both towns are entirely large enough for dozens of competent solar people
 
Seems like the person that installed this should have used a diagram to order the parts and run the cables. Of course the wiring mess may be due to the complete lack of any sort of diagram. Without some place to start someone would need to make one which would take a day, or just make a list of everything, cut all the wires out, and design fresh.

If you can find a diagram it would help anyone to troubleshoot. Were I doing that sort of install I would put it in an envelope and attache it near the inverters.

If you have a selfy stick it might help to get pictures farther in there.

Has anyone else noticed that the low battery alarm is lite on the first inverter?
