I wanted to throw in another update on what I have done on my end and future plans.
I have changed my 40gal electric water heater to 24v Dernord heaters, hooked in parallel through an 80A motor contactor. The contactor currently has two overrides, a manual on off and a thermostat. At 26+V on...
Yes thank you for the correction I am aiming for 3P/8S for 25.6v pack.
The packs are being split up over 2 places, so thats why Im going with 2 packs.
I also ordered 4 spare cells to use in my 12v camper application which is less pertinent so I intended to send the remainders there.
These...
This issue is still ongoing. I continued to use this setup to get some cells charged and finished topping them off on the regulated charger until they reached 3.65v@.1A, which luckily only took about 40min to an hour per cell. I wired them back into the BMS, reset to factory defaults and plugged...
I do recall in a manual that it said to connect the batteries before connecting solar. I would imagine reverse for a disconnect which is why I assume I did not suffer a similar failure.
Digging through my papers, if i find it ill add
One bulging cell, rated 306ah per the sticker, has a qr while the rest are stripped. They definitely used pictures of cells with them visibly intact, but $128 kwh was pretty smokin deal at the time. If they hold to the capacity I was promised and last, I won't complain.
All this generator talk is making me feel like Ive been stupidly stubborn and anti-generator for some reason. The big issue I have is a suitable charging setup, I have no more than 25A of any regulated (and totally inefficient) AC source for anything 90-240v. The generators at HF would put me at...
So here's the first two discharge tests after charging at <25AH rate. 293 and 292AH! Im happy to report that I didnt end up with relabel 240AH cells like some have reported. I am worrying about calibration of the discharge tester as my amp clamp read around 40.9A discharge rate when the tester...
I am having a similar issue on a daly 500a 8s and a clone 8s 250a. Both just decided to stop sending data about their status and allowing access into parameters but the mosfet indicators show up. I downloaded the old 2.0 apk(correction edit) and got it to show this but its not updating and the...
Greetings,
Working with a new 8S BMS, I believe a Daly/Deligreen clone. Have gone through and sucessfully connected it to PC via PC Master, to my iphone and Galaxy Tab with Smart BMS. I have it wired to a fresh off the boat set of 8S 302ah EEL cells.
Biggest issue I have RN is that it has...
Referred back to the original post again and yes I see that proper offline procedures were followed.
I am wondering about a start up surge maybe? That is a lot of capacitors to charge, and my system is 25.6v, less than half of the maximum so I would have more headroom for this scenario.
Yes, via the solar controller. Up to 40A yesterday. The charge mosfets are working as it is now limiting because it wont balance either, so I believe the wiring is correct.
I am actually retiring a set of 5. I used one dalygreen BMS and paralleled 5 packs with it. #6 x 1/2 self tapping screw can conveniently attach a ring lug to the fuse strips.
The more cells you parallel the better your balance will be, at least in my experience.
I finally figured out the current reading issue. The current sense resistor was set to 9mR, I saw most folks had it set to 0.1 and corrected it. Now reading current although its a bit off.
No I did not top balance, I conjured this together to shortcut some charging individually... my charger only does 1 at a time so I am trying to reduce the final top off by charging some directly from the solar. They have charged, but the balance function has never come on and the current meter...
Greetings!
I'm sure more expert people will chime in soon, but I'll throw in my 2 cents here.
LiFePO4 cells top out at 3.65v @ 100% SOC and it's recommended to not exceed that. Your packs will consist of 4 cells wired in series and also to the BMS, summing up to 14.6v at 100% SOC. You don't...
As stated above I purchased from South LAN store on aliexpress. Did not intentionally change the value but cannot rule out unintended, lots going on here and no empty/isolated work space. Either way, a factory default should have reset the value to default and did not. I have made repeated...
I have a cell with alligator clips that I attach to help the high cells. This set up is only temporary, the final product will be a 3P/8S pack. I am trying to test as many of these cells as I can and the BMS while I still have some dispute period left.
I have been interested in this thread for a while. However most high efficiency mini split units are running 300+v inverters from the line, which is contrary to you stating they use 48v. My Midea U (a dual inverter mini split on a common pan basically) uses 310v blower motors and compressor, and...
Greetings,
Has anyone by chance found a program that can match a pack by parameters? I have a lot of cells to choose from, for 2 3S/8P LiPo packs, and I was hoping there was a program to help me choose which 3 to parallel to get a nearest match when I series them together. Optimized matching I...
I let the factory thermostats do the work. Usually the top element thermostat interrupts the power to the lower element thermostat when it's on, so I bypassed that by hooking both the top and bottom thermostats directly to 120v. If I'm feeling skiddish about my SOC at the time I just turn off...
I came into this with little know how, and Im pretty floored by how well the whole system does without any help and esp for the small amount I invested. I had one of the slick solar salesman come to my modest 1100sq ft Florida home before I sold it. The cost was going to be $55k (cash price) to...
