A conundrum was brought forth when I asked the forum what might cause a Growatt spfxxxxt to fail starting pv production in the early morning sun. One of several replies; @Zwy posted it could be a possible issue with bulk/float settings, which in a roundabout way, brought us to pre-programmed...
Started this project a couple years ago. Pops had a tiny Harbor Freight solar panel plugged directly into an old tractor battery to supply lighting for his hunting cabin, which is quite literally, his home away from home. He loves the outdoors!
It began with almost a full pallet of 255w Trina...
Are we entering an era of affordable, large'ish AIO with all the bells and whistles? Anyone else see this at Watts247? Supposed to be available this month. 120lbs. (low freq?), 500v max mppt input, 4 pv inputs @15kw max, grid interactive, UL listed, battery-less or not, IP65.
... and $2800...
Yes, here in the middle of the US, the sun migrates South for the winter.
5k worth of used Trina panels. 2.25k facing East, 3k facing South. Arranged the panels in this manner to preserve as much power as possible for nighttime use. Here's the 411.
On the top graph, you can see a shadow...
Although he tends to slowly stretch the oration to almost boring moments, I still find Youtube's Ray Builds Cool Stuff to be informative, and the guy appears about as honest as they come. Here he states the privacy of his personal information has been threatened by a vender who did not receive...
Gauging interest.
4 EG4 LiFePower4 server rack batteries.
Want to considerably increase the size of storage and going diy with bare cells. Thinking $1150each. Paid over $6k new. Want to sell as a lot.
Located in SE Missouri. Will not ship.
Have original boxes, cables, and...
Built a quick shelf out of spare lumber for 4 banks of 304ah cells. Have 32more cells on the way and wanting to build something nicer out of metal, and it must take up less space. Been looking around the site for some ideas but one thing I haven't seen yet is a diy shelf using heavy duty...
I am getting some wildly varying results when using online voltage drop calculators. This is going to make a large difference in the cost of the home run wiring. What online calculators have you found to be accurate? ... and a link please.

Purchased a Weize ML2430 mppt 30 amp solar charge controller. In the fair to average manual, it mentions a monitoring app for the controller, but that's all it does is mention an app. No name of app. No location where app can be downloaded. My DuckDuckgo'fu fails me as I cannot find a Weize...
Been interested in DIY solar for some time but finally starting to enter the fray ... or at least trying to learn a bit before getting in over my head.
IMO, when you do it yourself you can take more pride in the results than if you just plunked down the $cash. I've been into diy speaker...
This is my third purchase from 18650 Battery Store.
The first purchase was in 01-2023 for 32pcs of their grade 'b' 304ah Eve cells. Had one dud right out of the box that 18650 quickly replaced.
The second order was in 03-2023 for another 32pcs of their grade 'b' 304ah Eve Cells...
Maybe EMP shielding is a good idea, maybe not so much, but if it can be done in a affordable fashion, why not?
I see people 'styling' the inside of their homes with the old fashion corrugated type roofing tin. If I were to build a shop, for the sole purpose of housing all the PV equipment...
Yes, the issue of over paneling has been discussed many, many times, but this often overlooked this paper concerning over paneling coined by Filterguy concerning hard PV limits stipulated by some manufacturers, has me concerned. Statements by the manu like; " ... Sol-Ark 5K No over-paneling...
Though all you peeps buying grade 'B' cells might be interested. Readings from today, 02-24-24. Grade 'B' Eve 304ah cells with JK b2a24s20p 2amp active balancer purchased Jan and March of last year. Will post more info later as time allows.
These cells have proven a huge pain the the a$$ to...
Searched both this forum and the net and coming up with little on the Tracer bp series. It's a bit cheaper than the equivalent an series and waterproof, both a bonus at the location this charge controller will be installed.
After finally getting an answer on safely wiring the Growatt spf6000t dvm-us to the grid, I was ready to finish installing this unit in the shop, and now a new issue arises. At 8am this morning, as most mornings, I was checking in with Solar Assistant and noticed no pv production. By 8am the...
Picked up a zketech ebc a40l to test these new Hithium 314ah cells. If they test good, I'll probably be ordering more of them. First impressions, these are the flattest cells I own. With the grade 'b' Eve 304ah cells, you can clearly see the jelly rolls. With the Eve304ah grade 'a' cells...
Questions about calculating cell to cell busbar size.
Eve 304ah 16s configuration w/200amp bms; plans are to compress so instead of using the solid busbars to connect the cells in series, the plans are to diy some cables to run diagonally from cell to cell. In this manner, there should be...
Had to replace a jk bms that stopped communicating. This jk is a newer software version and I'm not finding what these settings are for or where they should be set.

Currently running a Growatt spf6000t, which produced plenty of power during the summer months to keep the shop running, but now the sun has begun its Southward migration, the many nice Oak and Maple trees around the rim of the yard are casting enough shadows the shop's batteries rarely ever see...
What's up with this? spf6000t with loads of 1.3kw showing almost 50% load. Didn't notice this until the shop ac was running off solar. The actual loads, measured using a watt[-meter and amp probe are right around 1.3k. It thinks it's a 3k.
Growatt spf6000dvm. The handles are nice and shiney, but why don't they manufacturer some kind of usefull handles into the chassis to ease the burden of hoisting this thing. Geez.
Not sure how the pros hang one of these low freq 100lb wall warts, but this is what I had available. Two...
