Prices dropping, will this continue?

I'm looking to add to my battery capacity, but I'm not in a rush, I can afford to wait until sometime in July. Any guesses as to where prices are headed? Informed opinions? I'm seeing some pretty good deals right now.

Depends if a major Middle East war explodes in the coming weeks with nuclear weapons lob'd between Israel and Iran. Also depends on if China decides to invade Taiwan. It might depend on if the collapse of EV sales continue or if Congress decides to shut down Tik Tok.

But recent history would suggest that prices will continue down over the next few months.

My thought on good deals is if I want it, have the money and the deal is better than I would expect, to take it. Too often when I pass a real good deal by it never seems to come back around. This is different than a, "Too good to be true" deal. Those should be avoided. Risk reward ratio is lopsided.

ETA: Use to live just outside of Gold Bar up near Index on Hwy #2. Graduated from Sultan High back in the late 70's.

Ex Tolt Demon here... Class of 76.

I'm tempted by the Battero @ $55/cell (yeah I know I have freight shipping and transaction fees and whatnot). I don't know if I need more battery. I don't have all mine set up yet. But more is better right? Hm.

That seems to be what I keep telling myself, started off with enough stuff for four 24v 304ah in boxes and that turned into six, then I found two server racks that will hold four each. So eight after second order.

US government needs money to send lord knows where other than here in the US.

I would not be surprised if prices get much lower there won't be tariffs added to (1) fill the government's pockets (2) protect the US startups for building batteries here to protect political donors financial interests.

The US government sees an opportunity to raise revenue (while claiming China is dumping product), they will take advantage of it.

Ask not what you have to spend, but what you will save.

If utility power costs you $0.50/kWh and you can build a PV/battery system for $0.10/kWh, savings can only increase a bit over the $0.40 now available. But it can largely evaporate if prices go up.

If utility power costs you $0.10/kWh, you can't save anything with an off-grid system.
You can do grid tie PV for $0.025/kWh. Of the shelf batteries at $0.05/kWh aren't very attractive. DIY at $0.025 starts to be.

According to the second line in the chart of my Google lens translation of this slide from the 2023 “Senior Engineer Lithium Battery Conference” in Guangdong China, (Oct ‘23), down to 0.35-0.38 yuan per Wh ($48-$52.5/kWh) by the end of this year and a modest drop to 0.34-0.36 yuan per Wh ($47 to $50 per kWh) by end of next year.

Even with the combined expertise available to speakers at such an industry event, they can’t see the future and can’t predict, for example, if the west might slap tariffs on Chinese lithium batteries, which is one of the reasons I plunged in and bought recently, as most of the production price drops seem to have already occurred and there are political risks such as war and a cooling in China vs West relations to be wary of.

Gobel has them in US warehouse for $79/cell with free shipping if you don’t wanna wait/pay freight

When I started planning my LiFePO4 upgrade last year, 100 Ah batteries were about $500. When I bought them recently they were down to about $300. I would expect continuing price drops, but it is hard to say how much. I think the more pricey batteries will probably come down more so than the economy priced . . . (i.e. the higher you are the further you can fall :ROFLMAO: )

I now have 60kwh of cells. I won’t buy anymore until I find an irresistible deal
100ah rack batteries if 900 are fairly appealing but I think that will be around for a while too

If the product you are looking at happens to be USA built, chances are the price will go up.

If the product you are looking at happens to be from China, chances are prices will go down.

Between now and July, I doubt anything drastic will change.

You don't know marketing.

LG RESU 10H Prime 9.8 kWh, $5700 to $8500.

Not much different from LG RESU 10H three years ago. Around $5500

Could be those prices are bundled with installation.

At least one review I've read mentioned that shifting time of consumption makes no sense with these batteries, which cost $0.50/kWh of cycle life.
