Can Solar & Wind Fix Everything (e.g., Climate Change) with a battery break-through?

Opinion: Yet another headline that is the start of a horror movie where the AIs decide humans are the problem? I know a lot of people believe population reduction is the only solution, but it's a bad solution (as are those that reduce our quality of living) because they don't help humans thrive. There are numerous solutions that fix the problem and let us thrive (e.g., Denmark is not only growing GDP but very successful in their efforts).

Dear Mr. Kwarteng, Now is the Time to Act Without Fear or Favour on Net Zero, Vaccines and the WHO Pandemic Treaty

Daily Sceptic reader Paul Hicks wrote to his MP, Kwasi Kwarteng, who is standing down at the next election, to suggest to him that now is a good time to act without fear of favour on behalf of his constituents. He sent the email to us, suggesting we share it with readers as it might inspire others to write similarly.

Dear Mr. Kwarteng,

You have announced your intention not to stand for election as the Member of Parliament for Spelthorne at the next General Election. You have represented me and my fellow constituents in the Mother of Parliaments since 2010.

I wonder what you are most proud of during your time as Member of Parliament, as Energy Secretary and (briefly) as Chancellor of the Exchequer? I vaguely recall that you had a hand in promoting the use of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) – a rare burst of sanity in a field that is mostly dominated by non-scientific green lunatics.

Despite my somewhat flippant tone, I am genuinely interested to learn what you believe is your proudest political legacy.

But your time as a Member of Parliament is not over. There is still the opportunity to render some greater service to your constituents. And, since you are voluntarily giving up the attempt to climb higher up the greasy pole of politics, now is the very best time to show your true character. You have no need to fawn over or defer to others in politics, since you are not seeking preferment to any great office of state. Free and independent, you can speak your mind and can intercede on behalf of your constituents.

But on what subject, and to what end?

Here are a few musings that might help you decide how to act.

It is becoming more evident by the day that the experimental gene therapy products that were touted as ‘vaccines’ and which were promoted as being ‘safe and effective’ were not vaccines, were not safe and were not effective. Yesterday, my wife and I went to visit a friend who is in the local hospital. While we were there, a Specialist Cancer Nurse at the hospital whom we know well chose to take a break so that she could visit our friend (who is also her friend). She couldn’t stay for long, because she had a sad and unpleasant task to do yesterday afternoon – she had to give a young man of about 30 years of age some bad news. Three or four weeks ago, this previously fit and healthy man was in [a local] park, and for reasons best known to himself he decided to kick a tree stump. It caused him severe pain in his hip. The pain didn’t go away. He went to his GP, who prescribed painkillers. The pain didn’t go away. He was sent for an X-ray. It was the sad duty of the Specialist Cancer Nurse to tell him that his entire pelvic region is riddled with cancer. The prognosis does not look good. This sort of thing – turbo cancers – didn’t happen so much before 2021. It just didn’t.

One day soon, and it may be a matter of weeks or months, the public at large is going to understand what has been going on. Videos like this are starting to make it into mainstream media.

And, yes, I know, Talk TV does not have a massive audience. But a precedent has been set, a taboo has been broken. The problem of turbo cancers has been known for at least 18 months. And yet the ‘Establishment’ has spent huge amounts of time, money and effort on suppressing any interest in this topic. Why, people will ask, was so much time, money and effort spent by the ‘Establishment’ denying that a problem existed, rather than investigating the problem and researching ways of combating the turbo cancers that appear to be caused by the experimental mRNA products?

Would you be able to look that young man in the eye and tell him that his turbo cancer has nothing to do with the experimental gene therapy products that were forced on the population? Would you really have the sheer brass neck to trot out the tired old ‘safe and effective’ mantra? Really?

So – Suggestion One for leaving an honourable political legacy: you could attend the debate on Vaccine Harms in the House of Commons on Thursday April 18th 2024 and put your weight behind calls for a genuine, unbiased scientific investigation into the consequences of administering inadequately tested experimental gene therapy products to the mass of the population. Including to children. Including to pregnant women.

Suggestion Two for leaving an honourable political legacy is to intervene in the Project Stone Age programme, which is also known as Net Zero. Project Stone Age will impoverish us all here in the United Kingdom. It already has impoverished us, and some irreversible damage has already been inflicted (try re-starting the blast furnaces in Port Talbot, or re-commissioning the last fertiliser plant in the U.K. that closed recently, or re-building the coal-fired power stations that were blithely blown up by Alok Sharma, etc. etc. etc). But – well, Climate Change – it’s a real problem isn’t it, all of that carbon dioxide, didn’t the head of the United Nations say that we are now in the age of global boiling, and don’t 97% of all scientists agree that human activity is what is driving the Climate Emergency? Well, you could have a look at this video (Climate: The Movie) to get an alternative view:

But both of these issues (the belated acknowledgment of the havoc wrought by the experimental mRNA gene therapies, the continuing and worsening harms of Project Stone Age) will resolve themselves in the coming weeks, months and years. Because the truth has this nasty habit of coming out, much to the discomfort of those who have a vested interest in suppressing the truth.

No, the really important and urgent thing that you can do now – Suggestion Three to secure your political legacy – is to go into battle against the World Health Organisation (WHO) Pandemic Treat and the proposed changes to the International Health Regulations (IHR). This is urgent. Because it seems highly likely that our pusillanimous Government will meekly sign up to this outrageous power grab at the WHO summit scheduled for the end of May and beginning of June. You are fully aware of what the WHO Pandemic Treaty and IHR changes entail, because I have recorded delivery receipts for the information that I have sent you on this topic (on several occasions).

In case the topic has slipped your mind, this link will help you get back on the trail.

Mr Kwarteng, I really, truly want to believe that you are a decent, honest and honourable man of integrity. I want to believe that you entered politics for all of the right reasons. You now have an opportunity to perform a very great service for me as an individual, for all of the constituents in Spelthorne, for all of the people in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – and for humanity as a whole.

Use your remaining time in politics to fight against the egregious power grab by the WHO that is now underway, with the tacit or active support of the U.K. Government.

Please don’t let me down.

With best regards,

Paul Hicks

Silverado charges twice as fast as F-150 Lightning

Opinion: Not for long, all charging times will probably drop as the idea is simple and takes no new tech. They halved the time by splitting the battery pack. Sounds like some Chineese EVs have charging rates over 500 kW.

One of the things I learned is that EV owners that use public chargers don't typically charge over 90% because charging goes fairly slowly when the pack is near full. Which makes me wonder, how do they balance their packs? Anyone know?

DETROIT (AP) — Ford will drastically cut the number of hourly workers at its factory that builds the Ford F-150 Lightning as sales of electric vehicles slow, according to a media report.
Ford began the year by cutting production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup after weaker-than-expected electric vehicle sales growth.
While EV sales are growing in the U.S., the pace is falling well short of the industry’s ambitious timetable and many consumers are turning to hybrid vehicles instead.

"We Have 15,000 Samples In Wuhan ... Could Do Full Genomes Of 700 CoVs": Rand Paul Drops COVID Bombshell

Last week Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) wrote in a Tuesday op-ed that officials from 15 federal agencies "knew in 2018 that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was trying to create a coronavirus like COVID-19."

These officials knew that the Chinese lab was proposing to create a COVID 19-like virus and not one of these officials revealed this scheme to the public. In fact, 15 agencies with knowledge of this project have continuously refused to release any information concerning this alarming and dangerous research.
Government officials representing at least 15 federal agencies were briefed on a project proposed by Peter Daszak’s EcoHealth Alliance and the Wuhan Institute of Virology. -Rand Paul

Paul was referring to the DEFUSE project, which was revealed after DRASTIC Research uncovered documents showing that DARPA had been presented with a proposal by EcoHealth Alliance to perform gain-of-function research on bat coronavirus.

New documents released by Drastic Research show Peter Daszak and the EcoHealth Alliance had applied for funds that would allow them to further modify coronavirus spike proteins and find potential furin cleavage sites.

Now, Paul points to an email between EcoHealth's Daszak and "Fauci Flunky" David Morens from April 26, 2020 (noted days before by the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic), when the lab-leak hypothesis was gaining traction against Fauci - who funded EcoHealth research in Wuhan, and Daszak's orchestrated denials and the forced "natural origin" narrative.

In it, Daszak laments the "real and present danger that we are being targeted by extremists" (for pointing out that they were manipulating bat covid down the street from where a bat covid pandemic broke out), and called Donald Trump "shockingly ignorant."

He also told David that he would restrict communications "to gmail from now on," and planned to mount a response to an NIH request which appears to suggest moving out of Wuhan - to which Daszak says "Even that would be a loss - we have 15,000 samples in freezers in Wuhan and could do the full genomes of 700+ Co Vs we've identified if we don't cut this thread."

I think we need to defund every agency to ZERO, and then start over with a clean sheet of paper. Every agency would need to prove their cost / benefit to taxpayers.

Every program. Every agency. Only those agencies listed in the Constitution will be re-instated. All the money taxed for social security paid back in one lump sum. No more income tax. Military funded as 2% of GDP max. Sell bonds for the rest like in WW2.

Can natural hydrogen be considered renewable?

Natural Hydrogen

A few articles about how difficult it will be to find and use economically. Paul Martin has said the only known well produces less overall energy than a typical wind turbine as it just doesn't produce that much. Hydrogen is found in other wells, but usually it's 5~20% hydrogen and 70% natural gas. So, there's a lot of caution about it out there. On the other hand companies are gearing up for exploration. I think the bottom line is we still don't know for sure.

Electric Car Demand Plunges Across Europe

Electric car sales plummeted across Europe last month as demand dried up despite the EU’s push to ban petrol and diesel vehicles by the middle of the next decade. The Telegraph has the story.

Sales of battery-powered cars dropped by 11.3% as demand in Germany, Europe’s largest economy, plunged by 28.9%, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).
Only 13% of new registrations were electric, down from 13.9% in March last year and down from 14.6% for all of 2023.
Sales of electric cars have stalled despite Europe’s plans to ban the sale of new internal combustion engine cars by 2035.
Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Tesla have all reported falling electric vehicle sales in the first three months of the year.
It came as new vehicle registrations overall fell by 5.3% across the European Union to 1m last month.
The ACEA has blamed the fall in sales in March on the early Easter holidays.
Hybrid cars accounted for 29% of the market in March, up from 24.4% in the same month a year ago.
Petrol vehicle sales also decreased by 10.2%, with notable reductions in France, Spain and Germany.
The downturn in the diesel market was even more severe, with an 18.5% drop in March.

Climate Change is Class Warfare

The climate is up the spout and we’re to blame. The planet is boiling like a pan of porridge. We face the possible extinction of all life on earth. ‘Science’ says so. Anyone who questions it is a demonic scoundrel. The climate catastrophe is a 100% solid-gold, slam-dunk irrefutable fact.

Hmm. And yet, it is clear to anyone who has paid the slightest attention, that the tired, hysterical predictions of the climate alarmists (made repeatedly over four decades and based on their hypothetical computer-models) have proved to be spectacularly wrong, again and again and again. It does not take much digging (we have the internet these days) to discover that the outlandish claims of climate alarmists are flatly contradicted by lots and lots of perfectly good scientific evidence and data. We’re not talking here about fringe science put about by whackos. We’re talking about official data – mainstream science, published in respected journals. (Some of it is featured in my ‘climate-denier’ film, Climate: The Movie, available for free online).

The world is not boiling. We are, as any geologist will tell you, in an ice age – one of the coldest periods in the last 500 million years. The level of CO2 in the atmosphere is not unnaturally or frighteningly high. Compared to the last half billion years of earth’s history it is extremely low. And there is no evidence that changing levels of atmospheric CO2 (it has changed radically many times in the past) has ever ‘driven climate change’. If there had been, Al Gore would have said so in his silly film, but he didn’t. Hurricane activity is not increasing, nor are the number of wildfires, nor are the number of droughts, and so on and so on. This is what the official data say. You can look it up.

Of course this is all a bit embarrassing for the science establishment. The climate alarm is worth billions to them in climate-related funding. A lot of jobs depend on it. A lot of reputations are at stake. And it’s deeply awkward for the renewables industry, which turns over around a trillion dollars a year.

The climate alarm is not supported by scientific evidence. It is supported by bullying, intimidation and the censorship of anyone who dares to question it. Climate catastrophism is politics, shamelessly dressed up as science.

The climate scare was the invention of the environmentalist movement, which stands opposed to vulgar, dirty, free-market capitalism. They say there are too many people, consuming too much. We must be restrained and contained, for the sake of Gaia. The solution to the global, existential climate problem is higher taxes and more regulation.

At any social gathering, you can pretty confidently predict who will think what about climate, by asking them about taxes and regulation. People who love the Big State can’t get enough of climate chaos. People who want lower taxes and less regulation will roll their eyes and say rude things about little Greta.

Across the Western world, the state has grown enormously over the last century, vastly increasing the number of people whose livelihoods depend on state-spending, and whose jobs are related, directly or indirectly, to government control. In the U.K. and U.S. both, more than twice as many people now work in government as work in manufacturing. And this does not include all those (in the third sector etc.) who rely indirectly on government largesse.

These people depend on government. They are paid for out of taxation. In such circles to proclaim the joys of a small state, lower taxes and less government is a breach of social etiquette. You have crossed a moral line. You will be suspected of liking Donald Trump, of voting Brexit, of hating lockdown and compulsory vaccination, of defending the Second Amendment, of being a climate denier.

And indeed all this may well be true. These views tend to hang together. As do the views of those on the other side. To repeat, the climate alarm is in fact politics dressed up as science. We are, as more people are beginning to realise, engaged in a class war. On one side, the tax-consuming regulating class that feeds from taxation and bosses us about. On the other, the rest of us in the private sector, who rather resent paying taxes and being told what to do and how to live our lives.

This is the real basis for the consensus on climate change. The consensus exists among our sprawling, tax-consuming establishment. This is not a small group of people. It is an entire class. It is, if you will, the ruling class. It controls our civil service, our schools and universities, large parts of our arts and science establishments and much of the media. It is an intolerant class, deeply aware of its own interests. The taboo that surrounds climate scepticism is a reflection of its power.

It would be nice to think that politely pointing to the actual scientific data might put an end to all the climate chaos nonsense. Sadly it won’t. Because this ain’t about science.

Smart meters could soon cost you a whole lot more

What remarkable power climate change has to turn the usual rules of fairness on their head. The poor pay the taxes and the wealthy get subsidised. It has happened with electric cars, where well-off early adopters were handed grants of £4,000 to buy a new vehicle – as well as being excused fuel duty and road tax, essentially freeing them from having to make any contribution to the upkeep of roads. It has happened with heat pumps – whose owners have enjoyed years of subsidies, the latest manifestation of which is £7,500 in upfront grants.

Surge pricing is a desperate solution to manage demand rather than maintain supply
The next phase will be even more painful for the poor and even more rewarding for the wealthy. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has put forward proposals to equip smart meters and electric appliances with technology to allow Uber-style surge pricing for electricity, where the price of power will vary on a half-hourly basis. Under the new system, there would be little warning of when prices would change, unlike the Economy 7 tariff, which has been around for decades and offers consumers cheaper electricity at night.

The reason for the new system is the intermittency of wind and solar, which the government and the green energy industry in general have failed to solve. Technologies for storing energy remain horribly expensive, or they have not yet even been proven on a commercial scale. Surge pricing is a desperate solution to manage demand rather than maintain supply. How much will prices have to vary in order to persuade people to turn off appliances when little wind and solar energy is being produced? It would require hugely punitive tariffs. This is the scale of the problem: Britain already has enough wind and solar capacity – theoretically – to meet Britain average power demand of 37 gigawatts. But in some weather conditions – namely calm winter evenings – that can fall away to less than one gigawatt.

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article...cost-you-a-whole-lot-more/#comments-container

Ross hits the nail on the head.

Fiddling around with peak prices won’t make the slightest bit of difference to peak demand. People are not going to rearrange their lives to save a few pence here and there.

To cut demand, prices will need to be punitive.

Moreover, we are not talking about the sort of variable tariffs currently on the market, such as Octopus Agile which offer variable prices for prearranged times of day.

Surge pricing can change every half hour, so very few people will even be aware prices are changing, never mind being able to do anything about it.

We are likely to end up in a situation where people automatically switch all appliances off whenever there is the slightest risk of price hikes.

The days of cheap, reliable energy are over.

... Which makes me wonder, how do they [EVs] balance their packs? Anyone know?
Found an answer here.

Passive Cell Balancing

Passive cell balancing is one of the common methods used in electric vehicle battery packs. It relies on the natural voltage differences among cells and uses passive components, such as resistors or diodes, to redirect excess charge from higher-voltage cells to lower-voltage cells. This process occurs during the charging phase, gradually equalizing the voltages across all cells.

How Passive Cell Balancing Works

During charging, the voltage of each cell gradually increases. When a certain cell reaches its maximum voltage, the passive cell balancing circuitry shunts the excess charge to a lower-voltage cell, allowing the higher-voltage cell to maintain a safe voltage level. This process continues until all cells reach a similar voltage level.

CNN: Fox News has been exposed as a dishonest organization

That is they're driven by pandering to their audience rather than other entities. At least not directly driven. Also explains why they have different 'truths' in different countries. Must be very difficult to keep track of which lies to propagate to keep the majority of your audience entertained.
