Brand new Victron Multiplus Compact inverter is completely dead. Wall mounted and all cables connected, but no life to it at all. What could be the problem. Checked all wiring and dip switches. tried disconnected batteries, waiting 10 minutes, reconnecting. turning switch on and off.

The pictures you posted show the main battery switch in the off position. Could this be your problem?

no. it is in the on position when i've tried it. it's in the off position in the picture because I've taken the photo when I disconnected the battery cables to try and reset the system, to see if it will work

Your pictures show a black negative and red positive wire coming from the battery. However the red wire goes off screen and all I see are two black wires connecting to the inverter. Did you accidentally connect the ground wire twice?

no. All wiring is correct. Double checked. Ground wire connected once only. Not even sure how you could connect a ground wire twice

You don't seem to have the wires connected to the correct connections inside the MultiPlus.

Look that quick install guide. There are three big bolts. While looking inside the left-most bolt is for the positive wire. The right-most is for the negative. It appears that you have the negative wire on the middle bolt instead of the right-most bolt.

Here's a picture from my working MultiPlus 24/2000 with the battery wires in place:

Thank you for this. Changed wiring and still same issue.

Good eye, rmaddy.....

Jkdoc7, Your fuse is surely blown as well....

Though the same, re Fuse. No idea where this is located and if I should even be messing with it. If Fuse is blown, is it best to change the unit under the warranty policy?

Take pictures with everything correct. The last picture you posted there is no nut and bolt holding the negative wire inside the MultiPlus and your master switch isn't fully in the On position.

If that doesn't fix your issue, take your multimeter and measure the voltage at the two battery connection points inside the MultiPlus where the two wires are connected. This will verify whether power is actually making it from your battery.

Also try turning on the inverter. It looks like the switch is off in the last picture but it's hard to tell for sure.

If you confirm you have power getting to the two battery connections inside the MultiPlus, the MultiPlus is turned to the On position, but none of the LEDs are showing any indication then you probably blew a fuse when you hooked up the wires incorrectly. Contact your Victron dealer directly and let them know what you did and what the next step is to get it resolved.

@rmaddy
Thank you Rmaddy. Will check everything and move onto the dealer if we can't get it on.
Thank you very much for your help and useful guidance.

You don't see the fuse between "A" and "B" in the Community link? It is a Mega fuse-you blew it when the switch was first turned on. Easy to find at your local auto parts or marine store.

Have you used a volt meter to confirm power reaches the inverter?

No fuse visible. I've looked at the user manual/installation guide again. Am I correct in understanding that Unit does not come with a fuse and fuse holder and that this needs to be purchased separately? If so, what fuse do I get?

View attachment 94694@rmaddy. Did you have to buy a fuse for your inverter or did it come with one already? is the little black strip leading from the the positive rod to the auxiliary battery rod, the fuse?

First things first, is battery voltage present at terminals of Victron?
If any fuses or switches inside Victron are accessible, is battery voltage present after them?

(Electronic devices won't "connect" if they don't have power.)

Any fuse inside the inverter is independent of any fuses you need to add your wiring.

As has been stated there is a fuse between the two close terminals. But you still need to add a fuse to your wiring.

But again, as has been pointed out now several times, the first thing you need to verify is if you are actually getting power from the battery at the battery terminals inside the inverter. Until you check that you are just wasting effort.

Zoom. Enhance.
I adjusted the brightness and contrast, and in your picture:
* you can see the fuse
* it's clearly blown (notice how the left side is uneven and missing one of the 4 pegs)
