Xuba Electronics: DEAL - 280AH LiFePo4 cells. Purchase & Review

I received the batteries a couple of days ago and after I put them in parallel for some time I put them in series and hooked up the Chargery BMS. Voltage was within 4mV between the cells.
MVIMG_20200318_170201.jpg

I also received the charger that got recommended here. As soon as I will receive my inverter I will do some more testing.

The BMS I ordered on aliexpress weeks ago got cancelled because of corona. I had ordered the DYKB bluetooth one recommended by Will.

Or does anyone know another source for that particular bms? batteryhookup.com is out of stock, amazon.com doubles the price and I haven't found a seller on ebay.

Does anyone have a recommendation for another reliable 4S 100A BMS, optionally with bluetooth?

I ordered the 120 amp version from this store a week ago and it says it has shipped

How did you measure the diameter? 6 mm is the external diameter including the threads.
visually against a scale, not the most accurate with my old eyes, I am 71
don't have a mic and looking now for my vernier caliper which seems to have wandered off

That one on Amazon is the 120A version. $110 + $10 for the Bluetooth isn't a great price, but you can get it right away.
The 100A version from BH is $90. If I needed one right now, I'd get the one from Amazon.

ETA: I think I'm gonna grab the USB box from Amazon, so I can hook up my laptop to the BMS.

If you want to be somewhat precise without fancy equipment you can wrap one turn of tape or some paper band, make a mark, measure the distance and divide by 3.14.

M6 is .23622 inch.... 15/64 is .23438 and 1/4" is .25000.
M5 is .19682 larger than a 3/16" and slightly smaller than a 13/64"
If you have a full set of fractional drill bits, the difference between a M5 and M6 is huge.
Even if you only have a 1/4" drill bit, a M6 bolt should be a little loose in a 1/4" hole

Same here so I'm listening for two thumps on my front deck. Couple of hours maybe.
I'm sitting at the kitchen table on my laptop and the drapes open to look out front.
I just hope I'm a AM delivery, not an end of day delivery.

It's gonna be a Looooong Daaaaaay......

My bad, better measurement reveals 6mm
Please ignore my recent post

Where do you live? I think it's only shipping to Belgium/EU that's a problem at the moment.

If I order from amazon.com, it's $160 total with shipping and import fees to EU (vs $60 from aliexpress) :-/ and they mention there could be significant delays. It's only a 105AH battery pack, so that's an expensive BMS :-/

I might give the Aliexpress seller a few more days to come up with a solution. I can't imagine that sea or train shipping is impacted as much..

First as Amy specifically asked I pass this informations along. Quote, Xuba has been selling batteries for over 10 years and they have stable and reliable suppliers they see no supply issues they will have more before they sell out of their current lot. end quote.

So figured I should just post my experience with Xuba, and Amy as she is a rock star.
I sent inquiry, she was quick responding at 5pm PST on monday. Created my order with bus bars and screws. I had payment issues, Alibaba refusing my CC payment. She created a whole new order as recommended by Alibaba to try again, it refused again. So I did a wire transfer, took a few days because I was not able to get to my bank for a few days then I got there after the 2pm cutoff for wire. Payment was received yesterday. She (Amy) promptly updated me that the order was paid and shipping soon.
order total $1059 USD shipped for 8 cells 16bus bars and screws (I ordered 16 as I wanted to double them up plus have some extras for another project).
Thanks to Steve and this community.
It sounds like it was an ordeal but really between my work/life schedule is the main delay, other than Alibaba for whatever reason not taking my CC. And that could be because it was a new account and first order.
I also ordered 2 (samples because MOQ of 10) of the smart bms 120a with Bluetooth ($64 ea USD) from this supplier on Alibaba for 158 shipped via DHL ($28 USD). Lilly was the contact and she said no problem for 2 samples. Should ship in a few days. Also said no delays due to virus.

Has anyone else who purchased the 280Ah cells from Amy/Xuba received M5 screws and terminal holes?
Or am I just metrically challenged?
My measurement of the screws provided which fit the terminal holes show a nominal diameter of 5mm which is correct for M5, AFAIKnow. Spec sheet revE from EVE says M6 but spec for diameter of those is 6mm
Can anybody clear this up?

I don't recommend anyone doing this at all -- and I only do it becuase I have guys out here with the experience to do it -- BUT there has been times that I have had to re-tap (if thats the word) the hole size to make it bigger in order to get a firmer connection ....
Today is the Day. My cells are on the FedEx truck for delivery. I don't know if it has left the local terminal to start making their deliveries or not. Now I sit and wait for the delivery guy/gal.....

FEDEX has a truck tracking capability -- go online

I had to sign up for an account and went thru all that, but when I go to the truck tracker part I get an error and nothing shows.

I need a 48V BMS w/low temp cutoff. Is that an option with the Battery Hookup offerings? I know they are out of stock but I assume they will get more at some point.

The particular version BH had was 4S only, but there are 8S and 16S versions on AliExpress.

Thank you for this kind of reference Info.. I am about ready to order my first LifePO4 batteries for a 24v system, and this looks like the 24V 280 Ah deal I can go for. ... Hopefully folks going this way will all have good reports after testing the batteries. I am gearing up via Will P's lessons and a few extra new test tools (including balancer and charger, and adjustable draw down fan tool)for checking out my LifePO4s when I get em ... I got a response back to my questions this morning from Wan Amy Xuba ( I let her know I was a member of this DIY solar forum to) who informed me: "Air Frieght, now the price rises very much, the price doubles within a week, it is not recommended to use". I see the boat route might take 30 days, and cost less. I am going for this deal, for the 280 Ah version of what I have been looking at. Will see if I can seal the deal today.
Ordered 8 of these a few weeks back and im on the same train as you guys. Delays, but such is life. Heres a video of the cells being tested
http://taomsg-imvod.alicdn.com/defa...0.38403e5fZpQy3S&file=dFpIgTJA90XpL8QyslS.mp4

In the photos she sent, i notice some slight damage on one of the safety valves - Any issue with this?

Update: from March 19, 2020 ... I explored ordering this 280 Ah 8 pcs deal for a 24V set up with Way Amy of
Shenzhen Xuba ,,, and Amy informed me Yes Grade A, brand new earlier, and later ... Air frieght price went up . got quoted $661.36 for 8 pcs, + $332 for sea, tax included, arrival about 30 days. (from shipping) .. but was informed honestly, performance of remaining stock lots is also intact, but appearance is slight defective ... and due to coronovirus, supplier will not start working until next week. Next batch of 280 Ah expected to arrive at end of March. That is when I will order unless I find a better deal. I like the idea a test video and pictures before shipment (mentioned in our dialog) ... so we will see. Hope the batches received already by other prove to be durable and dependable.

There are a couple of companies selling 280's, similarly priced, from what I know apparently Donghuan (sp?) lighting has good cells similarly priced, some people here got them and have posts on them, might be an alternative to look at. Yes, XUBA has 5000 cells on order from what Amy said to me the other day. They are also looking at carrying some BMS' and Battery Cases as well and are working at having the products available that people are wanting to be more of a "one stop shopping trip" for folks like us.

BTW, some BMS' have Balancers built in while others do not so figure stuff out before going on a buying spree, wouldn't want to spend cash on things that end up being redundant... dunno about you but I'm allergic to wasting cash.

I did let Amy know I was involved with thi DIY Solar Forum, and she did respond to that note in my line of questions. What an Awesome forum of support! Thanks for the Tips.

Steve, Yes to making productive use of our cash! We are on the same page about that.

For what will hopefully be my 24v 280 Ah LifePO4 Battery set up, ... I am still studying my BMS options, and have a "120 Amp common pole Daly brand BMS" lined up in pre purchase mode on Alibaba. I am thinking while a 120 amp might be too small for 280 Ah LifePO4 set, ... if I go by the 2000 Watt inverter specs that could out up to 80 amps into a charge from solar, and with grid added charge up 140 amps (likely configure to not use grid charge w the solar charge) / and Inverter draw of up to 2400 watts /24vdc to maybe equal (estimated at 85% efficiency on an All in One Unit I am trying out at economical good references cost) draw up to a 120 amp to power it's sine wave inverter. Maybe the smallish jump in price for the 150 amp rated common port Daly makes sense. Do you know the Daly brand enough to confirm that my considered options look like a good choice ? Anyone reading: Feedback & any comments are Welcome.

I have no familiarity with Daly and so cannot comment, I looked at them a while ago but went a different direction. I like a BMS I can fiddle with, monitor & manage with my system. Several folks here are now using Smart BMS' with Bluetooth, which also have low temp cutoff.

@ 24VDC 2000W = 83A, 4000W = 166A, at 6000W = 250A Low Frequency Inverters can handle 3X base, High Frequency Inverters can only do 2X.

I'm 24V and often see up to 100A (when nukelator or coffee maker are going) and I'm setup with 250A Main Breaker, 30A breakers for Solar In, 90A breaker for Solar to Main. Fused to 200A. I have yet to hit 200A (but I wasn't watching when the compressor went on) and no problems. See the "About my System" in my signature for more.

@Capt Bill that BMS looks a lot like the one Will recommends. Is it compatible with the "enterprise" app Will recommends?
Yes, I have received these have them hooked up, and I am using the Enterprise app from Will's website. App is a little clunky, I have tested low voltage and high voltage along with overtemp (heatgun for a second on temp wire) and undertemp with ice cubes.
So far everything is working great!

Sounds good, what did you find "clunky" about the app?
I'm not at the point of hooking up the BMS yet. Still Top Balancing My Cells in Parallel.
15 hours has taken them from 3.278V to 3.315V....
