EG4 new AIO rated 12K output and 18kPV aka "EG4-18Kpv-12LV"

James, I really hope that the release of this model marks a new trend with SS and EG4 in terms of QA before products are released. Seems that the EG4-6500EX took several months in the field before the issues with it has settled down which speaks to a QA issue prior to product release. And the 8K model, well, that hasn't seemed to have settled as yet as evidenced by Will's videos on that model. I'm rooting for EG4....lot's of potential but some tweaks needed overall to make the brand phenomenal.
the 6500ex was a pain, QA passed, and the unauthorized chip changes with covered-up EEPROM failures. we are still battling for a final stable landing of the situation but are committed to full resolution, unlike the other retailers who cut and ran when this hit them. My RD team costs us millions of dollars, we find fixes that the original devs sometimes can't; we are always going to come out of pocket and get to the root fix no matter what the cost and net profit turns out to be.

Also working on full web-based monitoring free upgrade. You'd think a $20B ODM wouldn't do this junk but it turns out the best luck is with smaller players so far.

Bottom line last year we improved value in the budget space by 25% and features alongside and when an inevitable problem hit the 6500 space we stayed in and paid/worked out the rear to get it under control. Not a sexy ride but glad to have stood in the gap in my book

Honestly I like the stats, the surge capacity is pretty impressive over all. Because it’ll get those larger inductive loads started. Nice idle consumption also. Need to see it in action on some inductive loads. And see how well each individual leg can handle loads also.

our pages show 18kPV on all titles sir. can we go with that anyways?
James, I'm reasonably new to solar(just over a year) so I'm sincerely asking this question...whats the benefit in having 18K PV but only 12K output for loads? It seems like SS is trying to hammer home 18K PV as a benefit. So just asking....thanks.

we could move this to another thread, solar assistant is not stable with these inverters yet; may even be an interference cause. we tried and passed on carrying it. trying to launch a much better portal using existing hardware.
How is it not stable when it's only reading data the inverter outputs, the same data watch power reads (very poorly)?
Interference with what, it's only 1 inverter he is having the issue with?
Have you seen any of the other posts by @Zwy on his issues? He's done extensive testing and troubleshooting.

On the soon to be released EG4 12k, how will it handle surge while loaded? Example - I'm running my electric dryer and washing machine at the same time, the washer is agitating which causes small surges when my well pump kicks on and pulls 37a / leg for under a second. These are the tests I want to see.
Will you be able to have full control and monitoring of the 12k with no internet connection, just a local network?

I'm very interested in this one and it looks promising on paper.

@SignatureSolarJames Does it support rear conduit entry? I know the knockouts are on the bottom, but rear conduit entry simplifies things in eliminating the need for a wireway.

Slightly curious what the noise level is and why the clearances are as much as they are, but other than the name it seems like a winner!

FFS just send this guy a pair of new working ones and be done with it.

the rear is open with lots of space for punch-outs you make yourself
noise is smart managed to only run at throttled levels instead of a dumb switch on the cheaper gear

thw voltage from the 6500 is erratic on the comm port. we are still debugging several SA features, may carry it but not comfortable yet.

Not defending anyone or anything, but I would prefer to have a higher PV input rating than Inverter output rating.

While I have 11kw of DC panels and 2.9kw of AC panels, my output limit could be 9kw and I would be a very happy man.

Oh wait, thats what my Sol-Ark 12k is.

Does Ac couple and generator auto start work at the same time without settings changes?

have no marshmellow in this fire james, but i call this deflection and BS
you don't know what you don't know, as somebody who has troubleshot more than 1000 systems, I don't take things for granted, my team can take his DM if he needs to get assistance on this problem .

well, have been using SA with countless of voltronics and mpp solar installs both on direct serial and usb to serial.
that is not even speaking on the 100's of documented installs globally..
this is the absolute first time someone mentioning instability.

so that can mean one of 2 things :

1. voltronics did replace more component for cheap shit components causing instability

or

2. you're looking for a scalegoat

i've defended signature solar and eg4 many many times as i thought comments made were unreasonable or user error, but these issues are on a whole new scale and level ..
do do and say whatever you want, but this is just BS
