Any reason I should "not" install the physically largest panels on the roof of our travel trailer?

Ordered the panels. I'll mount six of them with aluminum uni-strut, around 1foot above the roof, with the ability to angle them in sets of two.

1 foot seems high.
I just received 8, 550w Sunpower Gold panels that I plan on racking 15" off the roof of my 36' motorhome to clear my AC shrouds and all my vents and roof protrusions. This should allow plenty of cooling air under the panels, doubling as shade too, as these panels will cover almost my entire roof. My RV's total height will be right at 12 ft., which is still a foot and a half lower than some models. I will retain the 620v array mounted on the side of my RV that I have been using to charge a 560ah 12v battery. My new rooftop array will charge a 320ah 48v (16s) LiFePo-4 prismatic bank through a Sunpower Gold 5000w inverter/charger. The rack will be well braced and screwed to the roof trusses with 3/8" lag bolts, 3 per leg. I'll post up pics when done, which should be right after the first of the year. Here's my current 620w liftable array.

I just bought a SunGoldpower split phase inverter/MPPT solar charger / AC charger. I have a 24V battery, they have 48V options too. This unit will accept up to 450V from the solar array. Accepts 120VAC from the grid/generator and will charge the batteries up to 40A. On the PV side will accept up to 80A. And it has a 3000W split phase inverter that I didnt need, but now I have a backup to my main low frequency inverter. It only cost $540. The least expensive high input voltage solar charge controller that I had found.

Are you mounting them a foot high to clear a roof air cond? Otherwise a foot is too high. I would never do that, but whatever works for you is fine with me.
