Zapper77 is a total Genius

You can actually use the LL S firmware now to achieve close loop if you have a 6 dip switch V2. I have the 4 dip switch firmware as well it’s just not posted.

After updating the V2s with the LL S firmware the V2s will also trip the breaker and bms if the rsd is pressed.

The power pro needs the update on the eg4 website for this to work with close loop only with the 18k or 6kxp
Great for LL's. But... what about the Lifepower4's?

Only update the power pro for close loop rsd function of the battery with the 18k or 6kxp.

all you need is to update your V2s with the LL S firmware and they communicate with the power pro

The dip switches just set up according to the configuration 1-64. They are the same in set up
I just got an early Christmas present... can't tell you how happy I am to hear about the coms. And now I feel even more justified in the extra expense for the LL V2's. I'm a hi tech junky and it was only logical to go with the V2's when I new I had eyes on the new power pro

Hindsight is 20/20. ? I'm sure the LL's are awesome.

That said, I'm pretty happy with the Lifepower4's, they've been really great too. I'm pretty sure that they have been...& will continue to be one of the the work horses of SS. The PowerPro will be a well going forward.

Which is why...Signature Solar NEEDS to make the coms work with using the 18kPV & 6000XP's especially with discontinued support on so many other inverters. I.E. 6500EX etc.

<---- wishing I spent extra for the LLv2s

I downloaded the firmware update for the LL-S firmware and I noticed that the read me text states that this firmware is only to be used on EG4 LL S (EG4 LL V4) batteries. Am I missing something? Also, I'd like to make sure I have the right firmware downloads. I'm assuming I have to do both firmware updates on both ports. You can see read me at the top and the firmware at the bottom of the pic

This is the correct file for the 6 dip switch V2. If you have the 4 dip switch V2 I have that one personally.

You will need to perform both updates. RS485 will be done on the RS 485 port.

RS232 is done on the battery comms port.

Each update requires its own cable you can get from SS or EG4.

Also all other batteries need to have all cables disconnected during update meaning each battery you update needs to be isolated from the others while updating.

So there are two cables required to do both updates? I have the cable that came with my batteries that I used with BMS tools. Is there another cable other than

EG4 USB Read/Write Cable?

I understand I need to do each one separate but this is the only cable on SS website.

Can we get/make up a document that describes what update is needed for each battery and inverter and why + step by step how to do.
There are so many batteries, files and compatibility issues that I'm sure are adding to the support work load and customer satisfaction.

Yes the RS232 cable @EG4_Jarrett
So I use the same cable for both ports and based on the written docs it’s the same procedure for updating software as the Power Pro batteries as seen in the recent install and commission video recently released.

FYI sometimes it may seem I’m asking a dumb question but most of the time I do it to make sure that those who are following threads have all the information and are crystal clear in procedures. All levels of experience are coming to these forums for answers and it may help answer questions before they are asked. I’m big on preemptive strikes.

At the 20 minute mark they describe the procedure for updating the firmware. The same will apply for the LL update

I know that, you know that but most people don't read the manuals, especially the updated versions.
I took a while to figure out cables, files and procedures but can't be arsed to do any of it ATM because it is a pain in the nutsack to go through it all 6 times on 3 batteries, disconnecting each one, hoping the inverter does not shut down etc.

I guess I am saying this needs to be easier to do for the average bloke.

RS-485 maybe? Then we have some CAN bus stuff in there, I think it's for show. I'm still stunned none of these $5000+ devices have a $2 Realtek gigabit ethernet port and a brain dead web interface on an ARM or RISCV SOC. All the software for this stuff is arcane at best, never runs on linux.

Hi @Markus_EG4

I'm using 9x EG4-LL V2 (4-dip switch versions) updated firmware from original Z01T4 to Z01T13 some month ago (ordered 11/2022).
Added 3x EG4-LL-S running with original firmware, but don't know the version (ordered 10/2023).
By intention, the btteries are NOT communicating (no closed loop, I'm charging depending on voltage settings!), neither between each other nor with the EG4-6500EX inverters (the batteries are just communicating with SolarAssistant for monitoring via RS485, the battery-com is not connected right now).

But I'm very interested in using the RSD feature for all 12 batteries. Can you provide the firmware version for the EG4-LL V2 (4 dip switch version) which is required to enable the RSD. Which firmware version should I use on the EG4-LL-S?

Update:
While looking in the EG4-LL-S manual, I'm not 100% sure if I can use one external button to shutdown all 12 batteries if they are NOT used in closed loop? Do I need battery/battery communication established between all batteries Com-ports or is it possible to just parallel all 12 batteries Com-port pins 3&6 parallel with one external switch?

Thanks in advance!
