We purchased a 14.100 DC STC PHOTOVOLTAIC system from SolarEdge in 2018, on a payment plan. We had to file for bankruptcy in 2020 (horrible pandemic losses). The system is shut off. SolarEdge won't speak with us. Now what do we do? Can I buy a new inverter and gateway and start it back up? Can we just replace the gateway? We are so confused and don't know where to start. Any advice, please?

I thought they would come and get it on the bankruptcy stuff.

Hard to say there. Do they own it or do you own it?

If solaredge won't speak to you then they abandoned their asset. Document your attempts at contacting them by sending them certified letters and if no response do what you want with it. But check with lawyer first. The system hardware is likely worthless to them because used hardware resale value is less than cost of taking it down and selling it.

Post picks of the equipment you have. Model numbers help. If you have solaredge optimizers on the panels, you may need whatever part communicates with solaredge and is locked down. Then you would look like a new customer.

We were buying the system not leasing it. We were making payments but of course didn't make them all. I'll take pictures. In general, could we replace the inverter and/or the gateway ourselves and turn it back on?

personally I'd sell their stuff you can't use and just replace it and get it running. If they ever showed up I'd say they came to get it years ago and to get lost

How much do you owe them? Is it less than cost of new inverter and installation? Then write to them and ask for payoff amount.
they won't even respond to him anymore so no point

It's definitely more! Here's what we have. As you can see it's all still 'on', I think Sunnova disconnected it with the wireless communication.IMG_7066.pngIMG_7067.pngIMG_7068.png

Oh so this is not SolarEdge issue, you defaulted on your payments to Sunnova and they shut off your system.

Shit happens, not proud of it, but it couldn't be helped. It seems a huge waste to pull it all down and toss it - kinda defeats the purpose. I figured if I replaced the inverter and gateway (or just the gateway???) and kept the old, then they could have it all if they came for it. Is it possible to just replace the gateway? Is this something we can do ourselves or should we find an electrician or solar installer specifially (although not sure if theat's possible either).

Do you know if its an inverter with pv input or if its a microinverter setup?

Most locales have laws about abandoned property. At least here you have to send a registered letter demanding they remove their abandoned property from your place. If they don't within some time period, the property is yours. Had to do this once with previous owners' rented propane tank they left behind. Propane company was very quick to remove it once they got the letter.

Probably need to speak to a lawyer about the laws in your area...

Not helping you. Pay off what you owe to US Taxpayer.

Righteous, aren't you? You look to be about half my age. You never know what will happen to you. Besides, bankruptcy allows people in our country to take chances, to start new businesses. Small business is the backbone of country. You've probably never lived anywhere else and don't understand what that means.

Without knowing that details of the bankruptcy, how could we help you? 13 or 7? First off, who NOW owns the solar gear? Was there new payment plans setup?
