Is this indicative of a problem with this cell?

No - past 3.45V, it's the cell receiving a charge from the others from the balancer

Is this indicative of a problem with this cell?

I haven't had chance to do this yet - but the JK app does say that the resistance of each lead is roughly the same. All of the cells show ~0. 059-0.060 ohms (or m ohms? Can't remember the units). That means that this specific cell is somehow weak? I don't quite understand why it initially...

Is this indicative of a problem with this cell?

Hey all, I have a 16S 280Ah 48v battery. I built it and top balanced a while back and recently installed a jk active balancer to get things closer to where they ought to be when fully charged. I have it set to engage when a cell hits 3.45V. While charging from say 75%-97%, cell 2 will be...

    Active Balancer: Avoid low charge?

I have just hooked up a JK active balancer to my 48v 16s battery pack, and am reading a bit more on them here. When I set the pack up, I top balanced, but there is definitely some cell voltage drift since then. What I'm curious about is the following quote I've read a few times in this forum...

Idle no-load consumption reference by make/model of inverters?

Ya. It just seems a waste to get a charger/inverter when you don’t need the charger

Idle no-load consumption reference by make/model of inverters?

I use a victron 1200VA phoenix as chrisski suggests. It works well, but since it won't run a hairdryer I'm looking around for something bigger. CNBOU seems like it might do the trick? I haven't heard much about them though. Mentions of the brand on this form aren't very good...

Has anyone been able to connect JK BMS to their PC?

@rhino Any guidance you can give about how you got the bluetooth connection to work? I'm struggling with that part of the setup

How long do you leave your system unattended?

Biggest risk for me then is likely a tree falling and taking my electrical shack out since I'm in a mature doug fir forest. Time to build a bunker...

How long do you leave your system unattended?

I'm in the midst of putting my system together. I'm off grid, and am expecting that for weeks to maybe a month at a time I will be away from home. Obviously it would be useful to leave my system running while I'm out. I could leave some IoT type devices running, leave the freezer running, etc...

Will Renogy DC-DC MPPT keep my starter battery topped up just from solar?

Also wondering if I can hook the current solar output to the Volvo BMS alternator in. It isn't clear from the manual/schematics whether it will work without the engine running.

Will Renogy DC-DC MPPT keep my starter battery topped up just from solar?

Hmm. I guess I could set it up so that as far as the DC-DC charger is concerned, my starter battery is the house battery. That might work. Renogy confirmed that effectively the solar will only charge the house battery.

Will Renogy DC-DC MPPT keep my starter battery topped up just from solar?

Hi all I have a 2022 Volvo Penta D4 320 with the Volvo BMS for normal charging. I have a Renogy LifePO4 house battery and a lead acid starter. The Volvo BMS monitors status of both and does a decent job of it and alternator charging. The engine has a 150A alternator and will throttle back if...

Why does individual cell voltage fluctuate so much when charging?

That is my understanding too - that this shouldn’t happen. But how is it even possible in a series setup? I assume the BMS is accurately measuring cell voltage…

Why does individual cell voltage fluctuate so much when charging?

I’m pretty sure that the Daly doesn’t balance without purchasing a separate active balancer. The app has a balancing section, where status is always “Balancing = No”. No charge path shutdowns - nothing over the threshold there.

Why does individual cell voltage fluctuate so much when charging?

Hi all, I'm in the process of setting up my 16s Eve280 battery. Charging it for the first time to get it up to an easy state to top balance. I notice that for short periods of time, individual cells will have voltage spikes for >10 mins before decreasing significantly in voltage. Why does this...

Wiring an inverter outlet for outdoor use

Is there any situation where 18650 is more appropriate than prismatic LifePO4?

With what I can see, 18650 cells are a decent amount more expensive than LifePO4 prismatic cells from reputable vendors. Are there any situations where, starting from scratch, it would make sense for someone to go the 18650 route?

LVX6048WP Generator Specs Don't Match Docs?

Yeah. That plus the relatively high idle draw has me leaning toward separate components. I don't have much AC need to start, so the Victron 1200VA inverter should work, and it only draws something like 10W idle. Since I won't have solar for a while, all the Wh I can save are precious.

LVX6048WP Generator Specs Don't Match Docs?

I am charging from a potentially dirty source (traditional generator, not an inverter generator). So the reports that it might not work with that mean I may want to avoid all in ones completely. I was hoping for simplicity of setup with an all in one, but maybe that's a pipe dream. The EG4...

LVX6048WP Generator Specs Don't Match Docs?

Thanks all! I also emailed MPP Solar. The person I think confirmed that it'll work, but I could also read it as them dodging the specific question about North American 240V:

LVX6048WP Generator Specs Don't Match Docs?

Hi all, I'm not sure if I'm reading this right so I'm hoping someone can reassure me. I have a fully off grid site without solar. I have a ~10000W generator with a 240V US output that I would like to use as the charging source for lifepo4 batteries. The specs of the LVX6048WP are here...

Where to find female version of gnerator power inlet box?

You could get something like this: https://a.co/d/8w5FEvk , and put it in an outdoor box yourself? Or get the one you linked and replace the one that comes in the box ( https://www.homedepot.ca/product/ac-works--30a-locking-4-prong-l14-30-heavy-duty-generator-transfer-switch-inlet-box/1001588719...

EcoFlow River Pro Grounding Issue, Please Help

I'm curious if you found a cause or solution to the noise issues

Are EcoFlow River Pro's AC outlets GFCI?

Hi all, I have a small cabin off grid and am trying to decide how to wire the AC. The River Pro will live in the cabin, and I'd like to have an AC 120V outlet near it, with cable running to another AC 120V outlet outside. That way I can plug the generator to the outside plug, and plug the River...

Will changing from PWM to MPPT help with this small 200W system?

Eventually I’ll go LiFePO4 with a larger solar array. I’m building a cabin and at the moment the only need for power that cant be satisfied with a generator all of the time is for lighting, fans and a cell booster in the makeshift outhouse. This was built with off-casts from a mobile system...

Will changing from PWM to MPPT help with this small 200W system?

I went with a totally different option. I cannibalized a 50A xantrex freedom 10 inverter from a different system so that I can keep these batteries topped off with a generator.

Will changing from PWM to MPPT help with this small 200W system?

Yeah that's a good point. I'm definitely considering replacing the two 100W panels with a couple 300-400W ones... but that does come at a higher cost.

Will changing from PWM to MPPT help with this small 200W system?

Yeah - that's a good idea. I'm trying to avoid too much investment in this current system because eventually (once I'm able to cut down enough trees to support a larger solar array) I expect to migrate to a larger 48v system and most/all of what I use now won't be useful there.
  33. P

Will changing from PWM to MPPT help with this small 200W system?

The inverter rarely gets used and is off the majority of the time. Obviously more sun would be better, but that's something I don't really have the ability to change. So given that limitation, it sounds like aside from the MPPT vs PWM difference my assumptions are mainly correct? I should get an...
