Best dc to dc Charger for 200ah lith. Battery

I was just looking at your other thread...

What did you end up getting? Or are you still deciding?

I just went thru this with a 230A battery upgrade, RV with 145A alternator. The group-think here was the smaller unit was safer since I don't have a way to chart charging amps per rpm on my old style alternator. So I went with the Victron TR Smart Charger 12/12-18. Installed it, set parameters with the BT app, and tested it out, just fantastic.

I have solar, and shore-power and genset charging, so I only really wanted something for driving at night or cloudy/rainy days, with the pack discharged some. At least I'm getting something while driving. If the battery is well down the charger puts out a full 18-19amps. Most trips are 3-5 hours, so unless the pack is way down, it reaches full charge on the drive.

Victron enjoys a much higher trust level than Renogy, and their 18A unit is about $50 more than the Renogy. I thought it was worth the premium. Hell, we'll drop that much for lunch some days. LOL
