how long has each company been in business(real warranty vs "good luck" version), units sold so you have an idea of any systemic problems
support if anything goes wrong
ease of replacement parts
noise from fans
electrical noise if you are a ham radio operator
when two items provide similiar functionality, reasons to favor one over the other often can be found in smaller personal details (some folks decide based on colors hehe)
you could create a table with all the things you care about and give each a score for each machine...the most points wins!
