Eastron SDM230 Modbus - use RS485 output for invertor and monitoring?

I've a Growatt SPH5000 and 12.5 kWh battery, and have Eastron SDM230 in the meter tails to control the system. Link to the invertor is Modbus (RS485?).
Does Modbus = RS485?

Can I also connect a computer or Pi-device (via a RS485 to USB convertor) so I can monitor the output from the meter?
Do splitters exist?
