Was scrolling a Nissan leaf group and a guy posted minimal pics of a diy Lifepo4 conversion he did.
Claims its 180ah catl cells with ~60kwh capacity.
Hasn’t provided any other details but says he’s $5500 into it, and you can find gen 1 versions for about that price or cheaper too.

Would be neat to tinker around with a diy ev or repurpose the drivetrain on another platform

Not sure on a direction for this thread. Just got tired of derailing other threads and thought this was too neat to not share

Did he put weight into consideration? LFP is a LOT heavier that LIO and energy density is less, which is why LFP on EV never really took off.
 
I have watched video and read about ppl upgrading the leaf…. It gets expensive. If you can pull it off the rewards look good. I think your specs have doubled the stock range. ~60kwh

Did the person put battery heaters in it? Lifepo needs to be warm to charge…. Check battery specs for lowest charge temp.

I liked the quirky look of the early Leaf and everything for ev is already in it. 🤣
