Laminated pine 1/2" thick enough? 16C compression with springs

Hey, I just purchased some laminated pine for making my eve 280 compression sides. I will have two rows/columns of 8 cells with 6 compression springs (2 either outside edge and 2 inbetween the cell rows).
Will 1/2" be thick enough each end or will there be flex over time damaging the cells? I have enough supply to double the pieces each side to make them 1" if needed.

I've seen 3/8" 6061 Aluminum bow/flex with 280Ah cells. Wood is never enough imo.

Lots of people still do it though.

Sorry should of added that i will be putting aluminum braces of metal horizontially across the top and bottom (springs will also run through them).

What thickness and shape? I've used 1.5" x 1.5" .25" thick aluminum angle on 3/4" plywood and it holds up fine for 280Ah EVE 48V bank.

Its a U shaped aluminum piece. 2" and 3/4" either side. I think its 15 or 16 gauge, digital caliper reads 1.4mm thick

I laminated two 1/2 inch pieces of quality plywood together for a full one inch, then used 1 1x1 crossbars to press against them. I think properly sized wood is fine if you spread use cross bars to press them.
