One cell voltage always higher than the others

Yes, voltage was confirmed with a multimeter.

bad crimp on that balance lead?

Might have been a bad connection. I used wire connectors like the ones pictured. On the battery side, the wire is factory soldered. The new JK bms shows normal resistance in all the balance leads.

Glad for you. Strange about the JBD . I use them in all my projects and never had a failure. There is always a 1st time though ?
