PIP-1012LV Error Code 5.. What happened?

Hello,

I have owned the PIP-1012LV model since November 2021. Last week I disconnected all load from the unit. Only solar panels and batteries were connected for a week. Batteries were fully charged (solar only) and during nights the unit remained off. Today a "Error Code 05" appeared with loud fan noise and constant beeping. Unit sparked and turned off.

Unit is out of warranty, but I would like it to be fixed. Any suggestion, please?

Initial thought. Its a $350 inverter, how much time and repair costs are justified?
Second thought. Take the cover off and if its something obvious and simple like a capacitor or other easily replaceable component go for it. Otherwise, would just replace it.
Third thought. Could send an email to MPP Solar and inquire about price and availability of a replacement PCB. Probably will not get much satisfaction from this course of action.
