I just went to calculate with the coefficient -.29 came out to be VOC of 435v on our coldest day. Under spec of 450 but not to your recommendation. I would think that the factory built in some head room in that spec.It depends on what the temperature coefficient is for your panels. Generally i recommend that the panel VOC is no more than 85% of the SCC VOC.
But I also know from experience with these units. That they seem to be the happiest, running at 300 volts.
Under load vmp of 41v x 8 = 328v so very close to that sweet spot you mentioned that they like. I do appreciate your advice, being an old component level electronics guy I think I'm okay.
