Ordered 8 cells on Alibaba and am waiting for them now. Anyone use this supplier before? The customer service rep name is Shelly Feng. I went with them because at the time seemed like they were the only ones with stock and could deliver before June.

I got my cells! Well, 6 of them anyway. Fedex says 2 are coming separately. This is what they look like. Does anyone know what I should do to test these to ensure they are in good working order?

Did you ever test these?
Yes, I tested the voltage and just got them top balancing now. Here are the voltages I measured from each cell:

3.226
3.224
3.224
3.226
3.222
3.224
3.223
3.222

Not bad, they were all pretty close. I've also attached the spec sheet that came with them and some photos of the setup I have to top balance. To top balance I'm basically following the steps here: https://marinehowto.com/lifepo4-batteries-on-boats/, where I'll charge them up to 3.4v, then 3.5v, then 3.6v, then finally 3.65v. Letting the amperage drop to zero between each step. This feels cautious to me, which is fine I've got plenty of time and this way I don't feel like I have to worry about stepping away from them and I can go to sleep without worry.

I ended up cutting some aluminum flat bar to hook them up in parallel for the top balancing. I cut some 1/2" plywood to set them on and bind the sides, and then used rope and a truckers hitch to keep them from expanding too much during top balancing. These cells are manufactured by CATL and didn't come with any instructions on binding them, so I didn't want to really crank them down. Just hold them in place so they don't undergo too much expansion stress.

I think one of my cells is a runner. Video of my testing setup here, but it keeps shutting down the BMS due to over-voltage. If anyone has any other tests I can try please let me know. I tried draining the problem cell with a car battery, down to 3.3v but it just shot back up again after.

A little late, but if you'd sent them to me I'd had tested them for ya... Free of charge even!

I assume the OP swapped two of the BMS cables around like 1 and 2 just to make sure that their is not an issue with number 2 on the BMS.

OP, yes, I have used Shenzhen Jidian before. I ordered another 20 cells from them last night. Shelly said they would ship same day. They are CATL 280ah.
Good price too.

I ordered on June 1st, 2021. Shipping time was supposed to be 40-50 days. That would have been July 20th on the long side. It’s now August 4th. 15 days late. I know international shipping is delayed these days, so I’m still hopeful. What’s concerning is she won’t provide a tracking number and doesn’t know where they are at “customs”. Did anyone else receive a tracking number? Were your shipments delayed?07E777A3-333D-4C28-B82F-224BE8E786B6.png

Mine supposedly cleared Hong Kong on July 26th. Still waiting. I bought my first 16 cells from Shelly, and they were perfect. Been running them for months now no problem. I have 28 more on the way. Ordered June 3rd. I hear port LA is backed up by a couple weeks, so it takea time. I never received a tracking number for the cells. They just showed up.

I ordered 4 cells on the 30th April and was told it has cleared from customs on 30th June. Still not received the cells and now Shelly is said that it’s not cleared customs ??‍♂️

I hope its just the shipping delays at the ports. My first order with them went well, so I have high hopes. My order with Michael from Feb14th have not arrived yet either.

I can understand shipping delays but Shelly is not very forthcoming with information. Whatever I ask her she replies with something to do with customs. I asked her if there is a problem with customs, she replies with “

custom need check all parcel“ . I don’t think she knows where the parcel is now but doesn’t want to admit it’s lost.

I think thats pretty common across the board, and something the Alibaba team need to fix with their members. Chinese Amazon is not Amazon.

I ust want to know there any other Chinese supplier that can provide Lishen272Ah?

I was sold a DOA (premade made/sold in the USA) battery and my CC company wouldn't help me out... I use USAA who I thought was a good company. So if you think your CC company will have your back...think again.

Thankfully the order was by then back on its way to the manufacturer...

I would strongly recommend NOT buying from them.

Why? My own experiences are quite similar to Ray's:

Loved your video and decided to subscribe.
I suspect these battery companies are still doing business the same way that I saw other companies doing business when I was over there. Most are just hustlers trying to make a quick buck but some are in it for the long haul and try to offer good customer service to build up their market share. All of them typically make personal contacts within large companies and buy out whatever the company is selling off to the grey market. It could be anything from unused returned stock from an EV car maker who is changing the batteries in the next years model and has 5,000 new cells left over. So they are sold back to the manufacturer for some credit on an order of the newer higher output cells or it can be factory rejects or half dead cells removed from old equipment. I suspect it's all about how high up are your contacts at the manufacturer and what you can do for them.

My bet is that Docan and Shenzen have some pretty good contacts that give them the first dibs to buy the best grey market batteries that the manufacturers are selling off. Most likely the returned unused batteries from EV makers or other companies with unused inventory.
