Used Equipment Opinions

I'm conversing with a guy selling an inverter/transfer switch and (6) 255W panels for $800. They are 5-1/2 years old. He seems "motivated" so probably $600. If the specs are accurate, panels should be at 96%.

I'm building a cabin in Arizona and my initial goal is a stand alone battery back up charged by shore power. Panels to come later. I appreciate any opinions on if the quality and specs are worth a gamble. It's not "life support" money, but I don't like to bet on long shots either.366215672_1374755746446442_2179534950678538578_n.jpg369464686_853374016400535_5441736343385195655_n.jpg373462237_867517328049358_3977414618042621703_n.jpg

Anywho, all critiques and comments/advice are welcome.

IME, building a system around a good deal has cost me hundreds of hours and overall extra money looking for matching equipment versus just designing what I actually need.

What is your watt hour requirement and max wattage? That's what you'll need to build the system around.

I am in Arizona, but the Phoenix area, not Show Low. On Craigslist I occasionally see systems for sale worth looking at.

Right on. I'm in Phoenix as well and looking to get into the high country once in a while.

Sound advice regarding cost to build around "used" components. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

There’s a solar place just east of Show Low with good panel pricing. They don’t have a website but he has tons of Craigslist and fb marketplace listings. Goes by “solar Jerry” they’ve got a whole field of panels.
Santan solar is in the valley as well and almost always have great deals on panels.

There’s a guy in Peoria selling at least a half dozen schneider XW+ and pro units as well

Outside of that for used options in AZ I haven’t seen much intriguing. Especially for inverters and batteries
Guess I’ll need to search more feverishly now that I know of at least 2 others also perusing marketplace ?
