Why is there two versions of JBD SMART BMS SP17S005, one for Li-Ion (3.7v) and one for LiFePo4 (3.2v) ? i thought SMART BMS can do any chemistry

Why is there two versions of JBD SMART BMS SP17S005, one for Li-Ion (3.7v) and one for LiFePo4 (3.2v) ? i thought SMART BMS does not care about chemistry since you can configure it?

Has always been the case. IIRC, common with DALY too. SMART BMS usually refers to bluetooth access and possibly variable cell counts.

Usually, someone buying a bms gets one in a specific cell count.
Due to the voltage parameters. Nmc vs. Lfp would be a different cell count...
24V for instance could be 6s or 7s in nmc, and it would be 8s for lfp...

16S for 3.2V 48V and 14S for 3.7V 48V.
