SHENZEN BASEN 280Ah, I received my first order

I often summer in colorado at 7000 ft. My batts are usually fully charged before breakfast:)
Yeah I spend winters and summer above 5k, granby is one of my favorite places, lots of really pretty blm land with decent internet

I watch many batteries teardown and so far I do not see compressing being applied per manfacturer spec, and also if my cell last 6 ~ 8 years then by that time we will more likely to have new tech for batteries by then so I am not going to do not compressions, just going to strap them together with tapes and use it.
Interesting, I agree about the technology, hopefully the IBM salt water batteries will hit the market soon

A few things to consider.

The SOK and BigBattery batteries in that video are both very new ( and I think both companies are less than 2 years old as well--I could be wrong about BigBattery). Valence is not and has a good reputation but they use small strong cylindrical cells that are very well packaged (at least in the 2 cases I have seen), I believe Battleborn also uses cylindrical cells (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I would not use either of these examples as reasons to do anything (particularly if it goes against manufacturer reccomendations--these companies assemble the batteries--or maybe have an ODM do it for them--they do not manufacture the cells). Point being the construction methods and reputations and warranty departments of these products and companies are not nearly established enough to judge or draw conclusions from.

Beyond this not all cells are created equal, different manufacturers, but especially different cell sizes/form factors may be more or less robust.

That said, if maximizing cycle life is not your priority and you are happy enough with 6-7 years that puts you solidly within EVE's estimate for uncompressed cells, so you probably don't have much to worry about. With the cost of LFP coming down so much maximizing cycle life is not such as crucial as it once was (but being both frugal and obsessive I will continue to stress over maximizing the cycle life of everything down to my rechargeable triple A batteries... ?)

The good news is that I just received the four LISHEN 280Ah today, I ordered them on the Nov 3rd, they arrived on Dec 13th and sit in the customs for 13day, FedEx picked them up on the Dec 26th and delivered to me on the Dec 30th which is not bad at all. The bad news is that the bottom of the box was not taped up well and I was surprised that batteries did not fall out off the box. One of the cell is damaged due to bad foam insert, it looks like one chunk of foam at the corner where the damaged cell is. I just send message to Gloria Luo of BASEN with pictures showing the damages, hopefully she will send me the replacement. Follow-up: Gloria Luo just notifies me that she will send me the replacement, Basen seems to have good service.
Are you going to use that damaged cell?
I'm no expert but I'd be tempted to try it.

If the cell capacity drops donw to 80% without compression after 6 ~ 7 years, It will still be more than usable, that will be more than good enough for me. I look at it this way, does everybody follow doctor advice so you will live longer? I am not going stess out about the battery pack, that is just me. I rather try to stretch out my live than stressing out about stretching out the life of batteries.

I am going to charge it up and do capacity test just to see if it is still OK, they are going to send me the repalacement around January so I will be using this damaged cell to feed boost converter for 12VDC UPS and LED lights for emergency.

I kind of feel that way too even though I have mine slightly compressed. I would keep an eye out for contraction and expansion, whether taped or mounted in a fixture. One doesn't want to stress out the cells terminals. I think braided busbars are the way to go but that's my opinion.

Lab equipment with perfect conditions isn't required. There have been enough members including myself test these EVE's or Lishen's to know capacity is all over the place. I haven't watched all of Offgrids videos but as I recall he is testing EVE's?

I didn't test each cell in my pack but my total battery capacity is 272ah's....or 97% capacity. I have 8 EVE cells for a 24 volt pack.

So far from what I have seen with the Lishen's, they are testing at their rated capacity or better. Either way they are a great value and hopefully you won't be dreaming much longer... :)
tested my Lishen 272 ah cells yesterday discharged to 3.0 volt charged again and 274 ah is going in as pack im happy
just ordert 4 more at Basen

My concern with no restraining fixture besides busbar stress is irreparable bloating.
I don't think that will happen if you stay below 3.65V (no extra long absorb) but bloating seems to happen often around here.

From what I have seen that happens if a cell is severely over charged. And if the cell is overcharged in a fixture, once it is removed the cell bloats. That particular case of the bloated cell may have been a defective cell and we will probably never know. It was a weird case...no pun intended.

But you reminded me of something. I do question the integrity of the aluminum case. Since these cells like to breathe, I wonder if there would be more expansion after X amount of cycles due to the aluminum weakening if not compressed.

I am going to keep mine compressed. It really is the safest bet and I am not so sure taping cells together would accomplish the same thing. There is a lot of force when the cells expand.

Hello guys,
Happy new year....a little in advance..?
I got a message a week ago from alibaba

"We acknowledge that you are satisfied with the shipping information for the Trade Assurance Order xxxxxxxxx (as you neither confirm the shipment nor request a refund within the given time period).

Now we suppose the goods shipment has been completed, and the supplier’s Assurance Amount of 1710.00$ for this order has been unfrozen."

Wait..what .... It's still in my transit...! We acknowledge nothing....!

And the same day an other message

"Your Trade Assurance order number 59420571001028820 is now complete. Appreciate you can write a review for this order to help your supplier to improve customer experience."

Problem is that I can't contact them or do anything to increase the delay, I can only open a dispute....what is this, this is highly unprofessional from alibaba....!
What people that are used to alibaba think...? (I'm a first timer alibaba).
Thanks.

Congrats! Did you compress when charging to 3.65 for your test?

This is my first order, so I have little experience...but it seems like everyone is getting their batteries and they are of good quality... so I would not stress it... you might send a message to document the event just encase something happens

Hello, yeah I took a screenshot of the thing and seller is pretty reassuring but I'm kind annoyed on how Alibaba is using my 35$ insurance fee with automatic responses not letting me click a "I did not received the item yet"... ?
