Signature Solar EG4 6.5K Off-Grid Inverter | 6500EX-48

Do you have any idea what your AC inrush current is? I'm still heavily leaning towards 2 of these but am concerned they won't handle my well pump.
My 6500's in split phase can handle my Dryer without issue with a 19k btu mini split running at the same time. Also have a well pump ( 1/2 submersible) I'd like to connect. Based on how I've seen these performing, I'm confident it could handle it. But I'm leaning on installing a soft start module. . Have to do more research on my end to make sure. Also need more panels first. Currently only have 4kW in panels, cutting it close with my loads and trying to charge my batteries as is.

IMO always go with the soft start. It's definitely worth it.

Okay. Just to verify have you contact SS to create a ticket with the tech support team directly on this one? I know I've been doing some remote troubleshooting but I just want to make sure they have it documented for their records, and also so they can assist with more in-depth troubleshooting than I can provide over the forums.
Unfortunately I called last Thursday was unable to get a hold of anybody. Tech support went to voicemail so I left a message and have not heard back. I did continue to try to reach out Friday kept getting voice mail for tech support. Once I get a call back I will ask them to please start a ticket. Hopefully I will hear from them today

PM me your phone number and I'll make sure it happens today.

Are these inverters as loud as it sounds on the video? It sounded like the fans are on 100% of the time? If so why aren't they temp controlled instead?
Its not too loud just running without a load in my office right now sounds like a small fan. With load is prob another story tho :)

When charging, they're really loud. Not bad at 20-30% load only (not charging). Haven't pushed them much harder as of yet, but I'm guessing the fans will also ramp up at higher load amounts.

I also have a submersible 1 hp well pump at 550 feet. There is no controller for it just a 30 amp breaker going to 10 ga wire buried to the well. How would a soft start be connected in this case?. What are you looking at in soft start models?. Thanks.

Single phase well pump without a controller to provide a 3rd phase start? Pretty rare.

Before you start adding a soft start, I'd look into the pump model and make and determine if there isn't a capacitor at the pump or it isn't one of the newer inverter internally controlled pumps.

My 1hp is down around 350', attached are my inrush readings.
Based on the research I've done, you can't add a soft start to a 2 wire pump.
I wonder if you could add a capacitor(s) to the inverter output to help buffer surge...

After looking into it a bit and having a submersible that is nearly 20 years old, I'm thinking of going with a new soft start Grundfos pumps.

Do you think two of these inverters can handle that inrush current?.

There is another user floating around here (had a really nice build) that said 2 handles his no problem, along with other items running.
In theory they should, 38a x 120v = 4560w.
They claim to have a transformer, which I assume helps handle the surge.
There is a big part of me that is leaning towards the 6048 for the large transformer and much longer surge duration. 1 also provides split phase and you can parallel them.
These appear to be a beefed up 6548, I've done a fair amount of searching for them to handle a well pump and didn't find much.

Edit
Here is the link @Kluoco did you happen to measure the inrush current of your pump? https://diysolarforum.com/threads/eg4-6500-ex-inverter-setup-issues.41574/#post-526553

Thanks for the link. He says if I read it correctly, that his well pump pulls 1500 watts per leg which is not much at all. May not be a deep well like ours. The main reason for me is to power my deep well and I can't find any examples yet of these inverters powering a 1-1.5 hp submersible pump other than yours. I also looked at the lvx6048 for a long time and for some reason just bought two of the EG 4's. But the math says they should power the well. I may have to buy a good meter and measure the inrush current on mine. I do remember that it kicked my 10K propane generators butt when it cycled on during the last power outage but the generator ran it.

Since these are basically 6548 units, can you parallel 2 of these to 2 existing MPP LV6548 units ? Or is the firmware different?

Jeff

Any recommendations on a meter for checking inrush current? What do you own?.
