Thanks for the quick replies. My daily use in kWh is averaging 65-70 with about 2052 per month as of Feb. I have plenty of space to mount the gear and I live in southern Maryland zip 20617. I was looking at 12 or 16 Santan panels@250w simply because of lower shipping costs, still $400. shipping...
Thanks for the input. I will buy that one. I see you have your panels already I have 12 250 watt and went to but 20 more and the shipping alone was 700 dollars. This is not acceptable.
So, separate the neutrals and grounds in the pictured panel. BTW, this is my panel. Will didn't use the main breaker in his setup, the smaller pic above so I didn't either. Maybe I should. The 60A breaker on the right go to the xfer switch in the main home panel, which is bonded service. Both...
So I checked the neutrals and they are good. I stood and watched these inverters for a few hours and noticed a few things.
1. When the batteries are charging with solar and the fans ramping up, even a little bit, the AC output screens read 120v steady. When the charge lights go off as in fully...
When charging batteries in standby mode one of my solar strings dropped down to 35 watts and the other stayed at full input. This is normal behavior when the batteries get close to full charge I suppose. I checked the input voltage on both strings thinking something was wrong but was getting...
Do your variable speed units start ok on the inverters? I have two EG 4 6.5K in split phase and a newly installed Lennox 4-ton variable speed heat pump system installed with propane for the heating, dual fuel no electric elements. I know my old unit had104LRA to start but with these new variable...
I understand where you are coming from. Permit hell. That's why I am looking at mounting my panels on two flat utility trailers I rarely use anymore. Portable, I can aim them where I want to and no permits are needed as it is not grid-connected. A few things to consider:
1. Is the large drop in...
Has anyone used the new Midnight Solar inverter, it looks promising.

I am experiencing the same strange results in SUB mode but my line draw when the sun comes up and pv starts up is around 500-600 watts. It reads this with no load at all on the inverters, breaker off.
When the batteries get to 70% and inverters switch to SBU mode the mystery 500 -600watt draw...
It does see it but I always get connected, no internet with nowhere to go after that. I am using password12345678 I assume that's what they want to connect to inverter
You would think this is a wide spread issue, I think mine is doing this as well. If I shut down both inverters the screens stay lit up with an error until I disconnect the Pi.
It's rare to get hurricanes or wind above 40 mph here in southern Maryland, usually pretty calm. The smaller trailer weighs 1400 lbs and the larger 18 footer weighs 2400 lbs empty but those larger 4 to 6 in diameter post-screw-in anchors would hold them down for some insurance and possibly...
I would be leery of this business. Looks like they sell hemp as well as solar cells. https://www.bigchiefhemp.store/crm.asp?action=contactus

When I first connected my two inverters in split phase I didn't have the power use balanced between legs and I got the flickering lights. Once I balanced the output loads the flickering instantly stopped. I had three fridges on one leg with hardly anything on the other. When I added a window ac...
Excellent reply.Thank You. So there is no danger of both powering the AC loads at the same time. That's what I needed to know. I have to run a small load, heater on low, plugged into generator to smooth the frequency out then it latches and works perfectly
I have 10 250-watt Santan used panels mounted on my car trailer, I can move them around the yard when needed. Do I need to ground these panels to a ground rod? I have 5 running to each inverter through a pv switch and no other protection. Should I add a 15A inline fuse to each set of 5 panels as...
So the time boxes in this setting will let this come on and top off just twice a day correct?. I'm slowly getting it I think. And set the time the same on each box if you only want to top off once a day I suppose.
I bought two of these breakers but don't know if I need two as I have two Eg4 inverters and two batteries. Should I install a breaker in each positive 2/0 cable for each inverter? I think this would be correct. also cannot find a suitable plastic din box that's deep enough for these. I tried...
My panels 12 250-watt panels will be approximately 250 feet from the inverter. I have a surplus 600 ft roll of heavily insulated 10 ga submersible well wire left over from a well replacement that is only a few years old and looks new. Would you use it for the run?.
So if batteries are not in there rack the 4/0 cable is not needed?. Do you have the 6ga cables that came with the batteries going to the busbar and then through a fuse breaker with 2/0 coming out of the busbar to inverters?. I'm trying to piece together everything I need for two inverters and...
That's the one signature solar is selling for this purpose. So I bought it on their recommendation and apparently many others did as well. Maybe one of them will chime in
Looking for a digital meter to put between the array and disconnect to show me total array wattage. If anybody has any ideas? Have you found a meter for this yet?. I would also like to read true wattage from the panels coming in.
