Just was shown an ad for this product a few minutes ago:

So for $9,999..

You get 6.9kWh
A 3000A? Multiplus (grammar error on their site. It should be VA)
360W DC to DC charger
70A victron scc
And a shunt

Who is buying this? At this price point, you could build a seriously powerful system. Compare it to power pro battery and a 48V victron. Or anything else really.

The non-BB components are about $2300? So they want roughly $10K (regular pricing) for their batteries and labor to assemble?? But the best part: 6-8 weeks leadtime.

“But if you call now, we’ll throw in this toaster absolutely free…”

🙄

Lets see a Generac 7.5kw standby Genset is $2100 and if your going full budget (well you can't) but a 20kw 3phase 240v unit is $6500.
Ya I know its a noisy generator

I saw this too. As an intellectual exercise I am working on a low cost version with better specs to fit in my toy hauler.

Good think I was waiting on my coffee, I may have spewed it out seeing this one...
Without a doubt, some will buy that but I don't think that many would be so gullible.

Considering some of the stuff the Bluetti, Greenworks & Others are coming out with, there are far better "modular plug & play" type systems out there that would do a heck of a lot more than these.

I'm going to make a prediction here. Battleborn will not be around in this current form in another 5 years. They will either become a full blown reseller of solar components or they will shut down altogether.

They will get some oem to install them. Concept is smart, fitting in genset slot, but the price point..

They are targetting a niche, a demographic: none of the members here on DIY-solar fit that group, we are not the ideal market for this type of thing.
It shows a rising interest in back up battery-based systems in the general population, people who are not going to spend the time to do what a DIY-Solar member has done (research, learning on their own, taking the plunge, making improvements over time) no, the target group just wants a box, that gets delivered and plunked on the garage floor for them.
You may be surprised how many they sell. We should watch and see.
They are not too confident, "built to order" - means they are testing the waters.

Its not even competitive in the pre-wired kit market. AltEstore and NAZ both offer decent priced turn key options. This is just fishing for an impulse purchase

It is a good concept ... take out the Onan, put this in its place, hook up some wires. You are paying for convenience. How much cheaper would it be to pay someone to install the same separate components?

Having owned an RV for some years (but no longer, as I'm into TinyHomes on wheels), I can't imagine replacing the typical built-in GEN with something like this. One of the most freeing aspects of RV'ing was getting out to the middle of nowhere, and having full power. Solar only enhances that these days, and doesn't really replace it in my opinion.

Most built-in gen's are hooked into RV fuel system, so there is no muss/fuss there with fuel. If new/recent, most are super-quiet, or can be made that way.

Obviously, a solar element to the power scenario means less running of the gen, but it shouldn't mean replacing a gen.

However, maybe the RV market has changed, and folks that live in a densely packed subdivision are only really comfortable being in a densely packed RV park.

Perhaps getting out into the middle of nowhere is no longer appealing, even though it was an RV selling point many years ago.

For $6500 you could buy a used, but in good shape, MQ diesel generator that's going to be a lot quieter than any of the natural gas/LP 1800 RPM units, and have more capacity.

Actually the Generacs are not that noisy. I wouldn't call them quiet, but not particularly loud, my brother has a big one on the side of his house, you don't really hear it inside.

That is the market and as such the needed support is built into the price.

It bothers me when I see people with BB products because I legitimately believe they are predatory.

Its all a name brand and a "good warranty" can only go so far to make up for their astronomical prices.

I'm not saying its wise to go for bargain basement batteries, but BattleBorn is all marketing hype.

I see people all the time post about their setups and immediately when I see BB battery I feel bad for them that they've been swindled.
They could have TRIPLE the battery capacity for those prices.

😬😬😬

I like the idea, really clean, looks nice. I did the same thing in my Momentum 5th wheel and replaced the generator with 2x LV 6548's and 27kWh bank, but I was still into my system for almost half the cost, and 4x the output, 4x the battery and included 2880w of solar panels!

EDIT: Side note, how are they venting this thing?

"Predatory" is in the eyes of the beholder. It bothers me when people use this term in this manner. Now if someone is misrepresenting what they are selling that is one thing, but this looks to be pretty well documented, what you are getting and what it costs. Anyone is entitled to charge whatever they want for anything they have to sell, nobody is forcing you to buy it. If they are too proud of it they won't sell very many.
