Chargeverter alternative

I assume the programming is over I2C. Were you able to find the programming info?
Voltage and max current?
I’m sure info is available, but using the BC2000 makes it as easy as menu settings and yes, voltage and max current are fully adjustable.

The Emerson R48 is also a good option. I have several and wrote a Python script to communicate with it over CAN. You can get these rectifiers for under 100 Euro shipped (used) with adapter board.

Most of the info is also in this thread if people are interested:

Is anyone aware of a functionally similar piece of equipment to the eg4 chargeverter?
We were looking into a charger that would work for Lead Acid (couldn't find one yet. We ordered a unit several weeks ago for the 5kw 48 volt Big Battery to charge as a back up - not going to arrive until mid April. We are also looking into to 100/48 Charge Controllers to run heavy charge into the Absolyte GX 48 volt battery bank.

If there is one thing I wish EG4 would do to improve the chargeverter, it would be to implement an external rs-485 modbus or CANbus interface so the voltage and current could be set remotely. But it is still a great buy for the price.
The new Chargeverter GC (Generator Control?) does just that, but apparently can’t allow you to talk to EG4 batteries that are already connected to an EG4 inverter. I have a couple on order that are supposed to ship “early April“, but they look like the perfect solution, as I have a couple of Honda EU 3000 generators which only put out 120 V.

So I kinda abandoned this thread as I have since purchased a chargeverter 🤣 but still been following along to see if anything neat comes of the ideas. There’s already the chargenectifier thread but I guess we shall see

Yes I bought the growatt 5000es two years ago, it serves my purpose. But once these 6000xp inverteres have at least 12 month use under there belt under other test subjects on this forum, and it proves itself, and doesn't start a 100 page thread about all the issues it has, then i'll buy one to have a backup split phase inverter for my solark 15k, if ever it has to go for repair, at least we can limp by!
I ended up getting a SRNE 10kw split phase for this job. It's mint!
