This post is just informational on the new GC cable connector. Googling, I could not find the part# for the CV end of the AC input so I dismantled the connector and fortunately the pins are held on the wire with a grub screw so it can be rewired (IMG_2543). You will need to use ferrules on stranded wire (like this). I don't want to splice at the NEMA end so I'm opting to rewire this connector. First unscrew the base plastic nut securing the cable (like a flare nut). There are two tabs to push on each side with a screwdriver and force the separation of the outer housing (IMG_2545). You'll do this again with another set of tabs to separate the front connector housing (IMG_2543). It doesn't look like this last part is keyed for re-assembly so be careful during re-assembly to get the pins right, rotating the order of the pins could be a disaster! The case ground pin is on top (IMG_2545) and you can confirm by tone continuity testing the 3 pins to find the case ground.
