Hail damage in Texas.

We live very close to the Red River just north of Wichita Falls. It hailed here yesterday for about 20 minutes nothing big about quarter sized. We don't get near as much bad weather as we have in past years. I would say we see hail maybe 2-3 times per year max.

That "x" post is ridiculous. Whoever owns it pays for it.... but with panel prices nowadays, the same hailstorm probably did more damage dollar-wise to the local chevy dealer.

Yeah another reason for tilting array, when we did get some hail, with the panels tilted up 72 degrees, doesn't seem to be an issue. At least not with 'normal-sized' hail. How big were those hail stones!?

I have no idea about this storm but I grew up in Dallas and we got golf ball size often and sometimes baseball size hail.

ok, gotta think about making the tilting system go right up to 90-degrees, then add some 1/4 inch steel plate along the top edge, a couple feet wide, and tell the hail it's only allowed to come straight down...
 
I can’t tell from a helicopters view if any of those panels are damaged. I see some discolored panels. If there was a big storm it might just be mud or debris making them look like that.
 
The video is misleading in trying to make people think their tax dollars has to pay for broken solar panels. The company that owns it pays for it. No taxpayer involvement.

When an oil refinery blows up, who plays for it? Same as above, the company that owns it, which is the gasoline company. But firefighters are needed when a refinery blows up. And then EPA cleanup and all. Who pays for that? The taxpayers.

So when do taxpayers pay? You guessed it.
 
Owner will repanel and insurance will cover the cost. Good time to do it since panels are cheap now. May not be the case next year.

On Long Island we had a utility called Long Island Lighting Company. The local
politicians put them out of business when they tried to open a nuke plant to provide clean affordable power, and they "took over" the business for the "peoples sake", to keep prices low.
They renamed it the Long Island Power Authority.
Now everyones prices have skyrocketed, they cant keep the power on in storms, and the taxpayers had to subsidized all the repairs after hurricane Sandy. There is no recourse, as its government owned and run.
Just a warning to make sure in your area you vote out anyone trying to take over your local utility.
 
Anyone see these covers like whats on this one? Looks like its intent is to evenly distribute light? Idk maybe help with angle? Interesting idea..

I'm sorry, but have you met our judicial/political system of late? Someone will cry that the storm caused catastrophic damage and that a state of emergency needs to be declared and federal funds allocated. Watch and see if that doesn't happen.
