Excellent vid Gavin. I'm impressed with the idle consumption. I appreciate that you went over the pluses and minuses.

Sadly it looks like the same megarevo problems that plagued the old units are still there. Namely -it works well as an off-grid inverter but the grid interactive features don't seem to work.
Gavin wasn't on a grid connection but rather feeding power from another inverter.

I would not call that a fail for grid interactive features.
 
Call and chat with Ian maybe. I believe it functions well in that department also. That’s part of what they worked in the last year or so with firmware updates.

My grid options were limited. So testing would have been a bit complicated for time of use and other settings. In the next couple months I may try to work on ways to test options like this easier.

I think considering the space that was probably one of their only options. Once the wires are installed I actually liked the tight form factor. But while you’re wiring it you’re wishing for another 4 inches of wiring compartment height.

Not a fan of push connections as it seems sooner or later, the spring or some other component of the connector, becomes weak and creates a poor connection. Have a lot of issues at work from loose/failing push connections. Space wise, yeah, I get it.

I think over time the heat generated weakens the spring, once it gets to a certain point, it compounds.

It must have a pretty good spring in the connector if fine stranded wire requires a ferrule.
 
I did try to zero out the 18kpv but the 2 units did not like playing together. It was like an echo between the two units. A very messy wave form. Lights were strobing.

So unfortunately I can’t speak to that.
I have to ask if you had any N-G bond in the breaker panel after the NDX when performing this test?
 
As in did I bond the sub panel myself? Or did I read a G/N bond?

The reason I ask is the both inverters are of common neutral architecture and if there was a bond present in the subpanel at the time power was fed from the 18Kpv, then it ends up a parallel path. These inverters use ground as a zero reference point, any voltage on the ground can cause the light flicker you experienced.

The sub panel didn’t have a bond. I did have it bonded when I ran it in off grid mode though.

So ... yeah ... the inverters have been sitting at UPS, in the next town over, for the weekend. Been welding up the next pole mount and PaTiEnTLY waiting for the man in brown. 🤪


That’s always the way it is. If you ordered a pair of socks they would be there the next morning. But an inverter? 4 day delay.

I noticed when you had the CT connected and were pulling from the "grid", it showed negative watts. Is that correct?

yes but in negative numbers, so I'm wondering if the wires are passing through the sensors in the correct direction. with my clamp meter if I clamp backwards the numbers are negative forwards positive (just by reversing which way the wire goes through the clamp) just wondering if that could be the reason for the misbehavior?

I tried the CT’s both ways just in case. I also switched L1 and L2.

Ok. Gotcha. I watched Ian's video again where he was pulling from the grid and it showed negative numbers as well so It looks like all is well
 
They're here. Expected the bent top mounting brackets as that was also an issue on Gavin's video. Did not expect 3 out of 4 cts to be broken. The included cts are ~16mm id and the 4/0 feeding my mains panel are a bit over ~17mm od. Looks like I'll have to get larger cts anyway.

Heavy buggers. Manual says 41kg/90lbs. Feels heavier to me. Wish some of these manufacturers would include some kind of grab point, or mounting handles. Even a temporary pair of handles to be removed after mounting would be very useful.
