Durostar 5000w gen same as Duromax 5500w gen?

Researching gens and checking parts. Durostar and Duromax gens are the same company and models are very close to identical with mostly cosmetic differences. A Durostar 5000w has the same 224cc engine as a Duromaxr 5500w. This is advertised and parts are obviously the same. But, the alternator brushes, fan, alt casing, and avr parts are also the same despite one being advertised as 5000w and the other 5500w. Could the 5000w actually be a 5500w gen? Or, the 5500w gen really be a 5000w gen? hahaha

If both gens are spinning at the spec'd 3600rpms, and using the same alternator parts, I dont understand how the running/peak watts could be different?

Also, looking at the next size smaller 4850w Durostar/Duromax gens the alternator parts and engines are different then the 5000w and 5500w gens.

I believe the Duromax uses copper wound head, Durostar does not (aluminum)

Durostar is advertised as copper wound.

Ahh it does indeed.

I have a 13000 duromax. One thing i dont like is the push button start/auto choke. I find you have to reach in and hold choke shut manually to get it to start.
I see the link you sent doesn't have that same push button, it has a rocker switch. That may be better if it has manual choke.

The one replacement part I can not find for both the 5000w and 5500w is the stator. Not sure why the stators are not available. Maybe the stators are different and the 5500w gets a few extra winds of copper. The housings and all other parts are the same though.

I have read bad things about actually warranty service. Literally non responsive via phone and email. Even what a ticket is opened via Duromax web site. Any experience with that? The Durostar has a 5 year warranty. fwiw hahaha

No , hasnt broke yet.

In general, mail order power equipment is difficult to warranty without local dealers or repair shops on board with it. My expectations are low for warranty.

Will tell you with us having multiple DuroStar and DuroMax';s out here -- YOU will be YOUR own warranty department ... best case scenario is take insurance and buy from Amazon ... at least they will basically tell you to scrap it and then send you a new one ...

IF you are trying to deal with either of the Duro plants or customer service I think its only one guy in China and he works once a week - every other month ...

With that said -- its a generator -- as long as you feed it good fuel (100% Ethanol free), clean the air filter, change its oil, and keep a handful of spark plugs on hand -- you will be fine ... BUT NO -- the warranty is a joke ... so if you are concerned about that - again - buy from Amazon and get the warranty

Not concerned and have realistic expectations. Just curious about a members experience verses strangers on internet. I bought the gen off Amazon and Amazon will support any issues for the first 30 days. Good nough!! Also, the sales price with the $300 PGE rebate made it an easy sell.

Also, its a dual fuel gen and plan on using LP only. No dealing with gas and E10 and carb issues. The gen will sit for years as its only if a fire occurs, PGE cuts power, and I need to power the well pump. My home owners insurance was canceled, California living..., and Im priced out at $600 a month with a $20k deductible so Im creating my own insurance policy. ie house sprinklers to create a wet defensible space around house.

I have a Duromax inverter generator and have used it many times for the past 4 years. PGE power outages, upgrading a 200 amp Zinsco panel... Just used it yesterday to power a poll saw to limb some oaks. Its worked flawlessly and if it broke tomorrow no problem, it already paid for itself.

Forgot to mention, going to disable the CO sensor. That seems to be the most common issue.
