New Tariffs in the States

With the new tarrifs, it won't be that cheap any longer. And the Powerwall will have inverter, mppt etc. Need to add the cost of a 18Kpv or equivalent inverter. Or a sol ark. Now you're looking at $7000 minimum
Oh 'Powerwall' goes for all in 1 system with inverter and all, i get it now.

Saw on Signature Solar's site that they're warning about panel prices going up, maybe as much as 50%. The thing is, when will they start to jack up the prices, and will it apply to those panels they have in stock, or those coming in later? Also, will it apply to all types of panels, or bifacials only?

I've been itching get another 4KW of panels, but am wondering how long I have to wait.

Are not the democracts supposed to be in favor of evs, solar and wind, clean energy stuff?
Maybe they need to come up with something to collect another 100 billion to fuel wars...
Kinda like when the previous administration suggested Tarrifs on stuff from China & certain groups became apoplectic.

Shoes on the other foot now and not a peep.

That's $9300+installation.

Apparently there will be additional pw3 units that don't have the inverter brains just additional DC battery capacity, for a $1000 less. so still big premium for capacity expansion.

Wow, that’s way better than my kneejerk thought. Currently only like a grand difference from the 18kpv and powerpro combo for very similar capacity/output

Our housing market AAA low risk mortgages really impacted a lot of countries. We have let unfair trade practices go on for years. Now we finely do something and they are setting up BRICS on a gold standard. Hard to beat a gold standard. One thing for sure is times are changing and we aren't the driving force anymore.

BRICS To Replace US Dollar With Cryptocurrency for Trade

China Dumps The Largest US Treasuries in History
Crypto currency as a Government backed currency scare the crap out of me.

It was bad enough with current Fiat currency but at least it was in the wild and fairly unregulated for private matters.

Digital currency when they decide you are not a good enough citizen suddenly you aren’t allowed to buy anything with your own money.

I did see this:

The tariff rate on lithium-ion EV batteries will increase from 7.5%% to 25% in 2024, while the tariff rate on lithium-ion non-EV batteries will increase from 7.5% to 25% in 2026. The tariff rate on battery parts will increase from 7.5% to 25% in 2024.

Does the Tesla PowerWall have active cooling? Obviously has heater since its operating temp is all the way to -40°C but wasn't clear if it had some active cooling?

Imagine how this will change the market overnight to favor the new tesla powerwall 3. Tesla is the only company who is doing large scale manufacturing of lifepo4 cells here in the USA...

There is a couple other domestic lifepo4 manufacturers, but you can't even consider them because their volume is so low. This would make tesla dominate the market overnight. And tesla is still expanding their lfp cell production.
What’s teslas GWHr/year output of US made LiFePo as of today?

I see reports earlier in the year of possible 10GWHr, but with everything Tesla, talk is cheap for future projections and repeatedly under deliver once reality sets in.

For all we know the entire LiFePo project team was fired to make a point, lol.

Yeah, we were supposed to be traveling via hyperloop to our launch vehicle for a Mars vaca by now

I want my 1 second to 60 roadster with space x rockets that I put 100k deposit down for 5 years ago!!!! lol

I don’t mean to be all negative, they have done amazing things for on shoring manufacturing boom at their facilities. But with current sales and future projecting, I fear they are going to squeeze every cost they can.

Touché

Allegedly, China is subsidizing "dumping", the selling of products below cost.
The Chinese people are paying for bargains available in the US.

When the US government imposes tariffs "to level the playing field", that brings the price back up to market (more or less).
The American consumer pays the tariff, so they (may) end up paying a fair price.

Wish the money collected in tariffs would go to those harmed (domestic manufacturers), but even if it is a tax collected from the Chinese people (their subsidy of dumping) and used to fund the US government, that isn't all bad.

OK....what is the chronological order here? Get panels ASAP, then BMS (battery parts), then cells before 2026? I'm plunking down $9k on Canadian Solar Bifacial 540 watt next week.

Americans don't pay the price for tariffs, they just don't get the China deal they were used to when tariffs are added.
There is more to tariffs than just the cost to us.

Correct....you can search the whole site and it doesn't state Lifepo4 only Lithium-ion.

There's a list here
none of them are anything drastic, the prices on EVs don't even matter since we can't even get chinese EVs in USA.

Some seem to get the wrong idea about tariffs, it's punishment for the USA based companies to stop making stuff in china and make it here instead.
Unfortunately it hurts us regular poor folk.
Tons of solar panels etc are already manufactured in USA, the CHIPS act has also pushed many huge fabs into creation.

It'll take many years to change but you definitely don't want to see the tariffs go to like 1000% and the prices at walmart a day later.. we'd all be homeless 🤣
Most of the stuff if not all the stuff I've bought from china is going to see a price increase that isn't even noticeable though, the tariffs are already barely anything.
