I have 4, Valence U27-12XP 12 volt 138Ah batteries wired in parallel. They are used and I got the internal BMS talking to my computer yesterday. All 16 cells are within .006 volts of each other. Total charge of each module (4 cells) is 99.6%. It also shows total cycles of each module mine are 117,142,165, and 195. Not bad for a projected 3000 cycle life. Lots of info available that I haven't deciphered yet.

Crappy picture of one of the modules.

I have a CSV file, but it needs some editing to become actually readable.

What components are needed in order to be able to communicate with my Valence U27-12XP? I've got 4 as well and planned on wiring in parallel since I couldn't find a source for their external BMS.

I got the info here 300 MPG I ordered the pieces he recommended, he used to have a link to the software, it seems to be gone now, or I just can't find it again. PM me.
According to this and many other sites I have visited you can series or parallel them.

Tycoon - As shown in the 300 MPG blog listed above. Just a 4 connector USB, one of the Tyco connectors as fitted on your battery, and some spare bits of wire. I even found the right colours for mine! The hardest part was getting the software to 'see' the batteries, you'll probably need to check your COM Port settings. Oh, and I couldn't run it on Windows 10, I had to dig out a shonky old machine that runs XP, I'm glad I kept hold of it now!

Yeah, the first time out you have to type in the COM ports until you find the right one. It works just fine on my WIN 10 machines. I think I had to run Module Diag XP 12.12.msi or Windows_pilote.EXE or both. One odd thing, on the desktop there are 5 tabs and on the laptop only 3. ?????

If your list of modules is a big long one like mine, it lists 128, plug each module in separately and see the module ID. Mine was something like 3,4,19 and 21. You can change the ID number, ie:1,2,3,4. That way when you look you won't have to remember which numbers are yours.

When I exported the event log to CSV I had to change a couple of commas to get the columns to line up right.

Does using the software with these batteries act like using the external BMS system?

To prepare my batteries, i started charging them individually to bring up their SOC. I see the Balance function kick in, when i am monitoring them from the computer with the Valence software. So it looks like they handle this on their own. I will verify with another battery and disconnect the software for a couple of hours, and see if the balancing has been running.

I also have these batteries and would love a copy of the software. Not sure how to PM yet.

peanut, I sent you a PM. Click on the envelope in upper right corner of screen.
I would love to get the software too if you wouldn't mind sending me a PM. I'm debating on getting 12 of these and trying to make sure it's what I want. Need to make sure I can work with them!

This is the issue I've been having, but I haven't plugged in the battery to the computer.

Running the program as administrator should fix it. Just right click the shortcut and choose Run As Administrator.
Note: you might have to select the log path again.

What software version have you got? Mine is Gen 2 Revision 12.9
My software has 4 tabs - Battery info, Event Log, Cal. Constants & Batt System Info.

Version 12.9 will probably only work on Windows XP. To run on windows 10, you would need version 12.12.

I'll be following this. I have 2 U27-12XPs on the way to play around with before I go off the deep end and get a bunch more... Could I get a copy of the software as well? I spent some time looking on 300 mpg to see if it was on an older post, but no luck. Will be ordering the plug parts shortly.
Thanks,
Mike
