I purchased (20) slightly used bp solar model sx3200w panels several months ago and put them in storage. I've decided to become a little better prepared to get all the components necessary to run minimal household items ( a few led lights and a couple electronic devices) and hopefully be able to keep freezer or refrigerator cold.

I recently purchased (4) Trojan T-105 6 volt batteries that I thought I would tie together for 24 volts. I figured I might go buy 4 more, if necessary. Not sure if two banks of 4 will be ok??? I also grabbed several lengths of pre-made cables (I believe 4 ga??). I got a discount on the batteries and paid just over $100 each.

Now, I need to pick up everything else I need before it disappears... I was looking at the diy blueprint for the
2000W 24v system and it looks like some of the items specified are no longer available, but there are similar items. I'm confused about power rating for components and want to be sure I get compatible items for what I've already got. I live in a mtn area and have a Honda eu2000 as a backup for charging. I hope it will be large enough output?

I'm on a budget like everyone out there and want to be sure I get decent equipment at best possible price. It also looks like many of the components are shipping out of Asia, which I'd prefer to avoid. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thx, Linda

If that will work for me that would be great! However, it looks like they are coming out of China and at least 2 month shipping time.

I thought there was inventory in Utah.

I found one that they listed as replacement and USA stock, but the price tag of $9999.00! I would never give them my business.

Ok lets do it as discrete components.
The transfer switch is optional do you require it?

I just bought the epever mppt bn series charger in 40 amp via ebay. Now looking at giandel pure sine 24v 3000 or 4000w?

Transfer switch? From current grid? Not going to hook into my current panel. I'll keep separate and mobile, if necessary

Code:
+ battery<->mrbf_fuse<->main_cable<->disconnect|->inverter_cable->inverter
                                               |<-scc_cable<-breaker<-scc<-breaker<-panels
- battery<->main_cable<------------------>shunt|<-inverter_cable<-inverter
                                               |->scc_cable->scc->panels

for a 3000 watt inverter
main_cable and inverter_cable should be 2 awg
You can use the 4 awg for the scc_cable
200 amp mrbf=Marine Rated Battery Fuse

for a 4000 watt inverter
main_cable and inverter_cable should be 0 awg
You can use the 4 awg for the scc_cable
250 amp mrbf=Marine Rated Battery Fuse

forgot the busbars
Code:
+ battery<->mrbf_fuse<->main_cable<->disconnect<->buss_bar|->inverter_cable->inverter
                                                          |<-scc_cable<-breaker<-scc<-breaker<-panels
- battery<->main_cable<------------------>shunt<->buss_bar|<-inverter_cable<-inverter
                                                          |->scc_cable->scc->panels

I believe the T-105 are 225 ah

ok 225 amp hours at 24 volts gives you ...
225 amps hours * 25.2 nominal volts / 50 percent depth of discharge = 2835 usable watt hours.
Which is not a lot.
I also think its a stretch to run a 3000 watt inverter off of those batteries let alone a 4000 watt inverter.
And you mentioned earlier wanting to have the option to recharge via your honda generator.
I suggest your start looking at inverter/chargers instead of dedicated inverters.
What is your single highest wattage load?

Hello again smoothJoey,
Sorry for the long breach in communication. I’m back at this solar setup again. Unfortunately, you may have to dumb it down a tad.... I’m with you on some things, but lost on others. Since our last correspondence, I bought the Giandal 3000, which Wil Prowse recommended on his videos. I will add 4 or more batteries before I set the system. Like I said in my earlier emails, I’m collecting components as money allows. I definitely appreciate all your advise.
