EG4 new AIO rated 12K output and 18kPV aka "EG4-18Kpv-12LV"

start a thread if needed. We have been clear about the unauthorized BOM swap in the voltronic fab. the components are comparable, the software wasn't ready. so I don't get the BS aspect, we have fried several OrangePi's as we mass tested the idea because the voltronic has back voltage on the RS485 now
You should release this information both here and on your website including manufacturing dates of units this affects.

First I've heard of it and I searched thru the archives here and could not find a single case of a Orange Pi fried on the RS485.

As far as wierd voltage on the 485 and 232 ports with these units goes, there is. The 232 port has some 30 volts common mode to ground on my units anyway. I resolved it in my case and anyone can message me if they are interested. James and I have sparred in the past here and I don't want to extend that now as this looks like it might be a fight brewing!

So what's better about the EG4 vs the GSL or LuxPower?
No offense to EG4 but it seems like whatever OEM they get there hands on they try to tweak to make better and end up with more issues.... MPP, Megarevo and now Luxpower / GSL... Hope 3rd time is the charm.

You guys have the chance to talk to someone who is developing a product with a manufacturer, and you are just going to complain about another unit that is manufactured by someone else? Think about that for a second.

3kW inverter also has no issues, and not a single complaint here. I think sometimes the blame is directed at the wrong company. If voltronic did their job correctly, think about how many fewer issues people would be complaining about here. How about you try working with James and others to make things better. They are doing more work to improve these products than most other companies out there.
Will push them to bring on some multi head solar mini-splits.....I don't want to have to buy three individual units.....but it may come to that.

not the same, the wirebox on this works,
In this and other posts, you seem to imply that your branded version is different in some respects than the version Luxpower is sending out. Or are you just saying that your input led to improvements that are now incorporated into latest production runs of all Luxpower units. If your model has features/improvements that are unique to your version, would you please let us know what they are?

Back on topic guys.

When do you expect the comparison/shootdown to go down? Have you sent any out to reviewers/Will?
Stay posted. Comprehensive review coming to a YouTube channel near you.

To address the concerns of a certain other forum member... he has admitted to running the mobile fw, which he has been advised against, and states he will update this weekend. We spent months solving this issue as a team and we have a fix. I am curious to hear (on a separate thread) how many people have this concern with the newest fw loaded on the unit. Zwy is so friendly with our team on the phone and admits to not doing the one thing that would solve this issue, yet he has been this way on the forum. Part of me feels like I'm dragging a beaten issue, but I just thought I should clarify as to what is really going on with this. Btw we are still committed to solving this users problem and I know we have a fix for him. I just hope he doesn't throw them through our front window like he stated before. Anyone in this forum that wants a better idea of how hard we are working to bring affordable solar to anyone who wants it (and btw it's pretty good stuff) please come out to Sulphur Springs and let us show you a team of passionate people that are trying to change this industry for the better.

Two questions related to monitoring/data:
1. Where is the data for the 18kPV for remote viewing being sent (what country is it being hosted from)?
2. Can you access/view all the data locally without an internet connection?

Yes. This.

I have a Sol-Ark 15K. Data is supposedly being migrated stateside instead of PRC which is good. And while not officially sanctioned, you can pull all values/parameters via Modbus RTU. Being able to have hard-nosed local access is a big selling point.

Noticed in the specs it says
Noise Emission is <50dB. That seems pretty quiet. Is that even when at full power? Is the fan temp controlled so it isn't on full time? Would be a bit more informative if it mentioned at what distance that was measured from.

The regular luxpower version of this is whisper quiet until you start getting 6kw of use, then it starts humming. Even then it humming significantly quieter than the LVX6048WP with the latest firmware at idle.

It used to be that inverters were rated at 40c output eg xantrex 6048. Then they changed it to 6848 and the only thing that changed was they were now using the output at 25c . with this new convention, the same unit would be 8548 since it accepts 8.5kw of solar pv.

The numbers are getting larger but performance is not changing ?

I can attest to the fact that you guys have remedied the issue with lights. After having problems in the past, I now have a pair of eg4 6500’s that are running flawlessly. I realize it’s off subject but I figured I’d throw that in there.

Spent some time with the manual. My question is to SS or EG4. On page 68 of the manual, they're 2 references to PV power. One states maximum PV utilized is 18KW and the other states maximum recommended PV is 21KW. So, if the inverter can utilize up to 18kw in pv power but can output to ac loads of 12kw, can you confirm what happens to the other 6kw of power? For the sake of simplicity, let's assume 100% efficiency for everything and no power losses across cables, etc. Thanks.
