Walmart selling Chins for $266

WOW! Amazon $239.99 today!
But you still have to deal with seller if you need to return it.

I noticed its not just chins batteries. It seems most 100ah lifepo4 batts are cheaper than 6-9mo ago.

A handful of no-name brands on amazon for 200-220 for 100ah.
Chins, powerqueen, and some other established names for 230-240.
Some other names like litime, redodo etc... are 250-270, which is still 50-80 cheaper than early this year.

I wonder what changed? Chinese subsidy? Fall in demand / increase in supply? Change in tariffs? New pouch cell manufacturing methods? Lower ocean shipping prices?

I used camelcamelcamel to see price history for a handful, and while a gentle downslope in prices has been happening for years, it seems a sudden drop occurred starting in august for many brands.

Right. RMB exchange rate can account for a 10% drop maybe. Shipping is a lot less now also. Both probably help. Plus some of the other things you mentioned. Good news if you are looking to buy. Would not like to have paid $660 for one of these. I got one at Walmart because of the 90 day return to store policy. Did not want to take a chance on Amazon. Will see how it goes.

The timeusb 100ah without low temp cutoff is $209 with a coupon on Amazon right now. Anything bad about these I should know before ordering one?

My thing with LIFEPO batteries on Amazon is the return policy.
This one has a "good return policy - 30 days return to Amazon.
Eligible for Return, Refund or Replacement within 30 days of receipt. See below:
"This item can be returned in its original condition for a full refund or replacement within 30 days of receipt. You may receive a partial or no refund on used, damaged or materially different returns. Read full return policy "

For the CHINS and others, you have to return to the seller and from what the reviews say, they make you jump through hoops to "prove to them" that it is bad. With Amazon return, you have 30 days to test it and then return to Amazon if it is bad.

CHINS return policy on Amazon:
" Eligible for Refund or Replacement. This item is non-returnable, but if the item arrives damaged or defective, you may request a refund or replacement."

I went with Walmart because they supposedly have a 90 day return to store policy, so you have a bit more time, but it was $249 a few days ago.

On the quality, etc., questions, can't say. Price is really good though. For $209, you almost can't go wrong. Maybe better deal on PRIME day coming up?

Walmart price on the CHINS went up $10 today to $259 from $249.

I’m seeing labels for products that sell well slapped on different product altogether.

E.g.: bought a stick vacuum under one name. Brother bought the same a week later. Same brand, same Amazon link. He got a completely different product.

Something sells well, stick that label on anything and run it to the ground. Rinse, repeat.

The CHINS went from prismatic to pouch cells supposedly. Course you can't tell w/o damaging the box and voiding the warranty....
Will said prismatic was good, but with these new ones, who knows. I guess as the price falls, it matters a little less. $209 is a good price.

BS don't believe return to store nonsense they won't take it back, "call the 800 number" is what they will tell you, you better check with you local walmart first. The walmarts here in east tx don't even take stuff back form other walmart stores!
Wal-Mart, I call Wammert.
They change policies quicker than burning a gallon of fuel in my 69 GMC K2500 4x4 ⛽?
When you stated that your local Wal-Mart won't take returns even from other Wal-Mart stores, it made me bust up, laughing startled my dog?

It is good to keep eyes open, watching for things like that
Thanks

On anything but these batteries I agree. No problems ever. One item that did not work and was not returnable they ended up giving me for free. But it also said "No returns." I found that out after I got it.

For the batteries, you have to work with the seller, probably in China. You have read here on the forum all the troubles other people have had? Or read the Amazon reviews of the hassle people had to go through?

For 90 days, I'd get it at Walmart and pay the extra $10. Just not sure it is still worth it since they changed the cell types. Wills recommendation probably does not apply anymore as can be seen in the video above.
Only a few years ago( if a petrified rock)
When Mom(rip) would order school clothes, through Sears catalog. It took a few weeks after ordering, to receive the package( often missing item(s), or wrong size, color, ). If there were any issues( more often than not), it took weeks for return, plus time for them to determine availability of correct item, etc...then, 2 to 3 more weeks to ship correct items back to us.
Due to lessons learned, from mail order mishaps. I dislike making a purchase of items I cannot inspect first-hand. I like to KNOW, what I have in hand, will be the actual item I get.?
With Will Prouse, showing what was inside a chins battery( one example)and his knowledgeable explanations, plus respected opinion(THANK YOU WILL?)
I was almost regaining confidence and faith with online/ mail order industry.
NOW,,, finding out more and more, that once a product gets a good reputation built,,, the manufuckturer changes the parts/materials hidden inside.....ahhh, the disturbance in the Force⚡ is growing strong....Lord Love a Duck?☕
.
Also, did I mention online ordering just in itself, sucks, for a watchman, out in woods full time, year round, various locations, and NO SHIPPING ADRESS...makes delivery of anything next to impossible...lol
" my shipping address? Ummm, well, 3.7 miles up Mill creek, take the middle left fork on right side. That is the 3126 road, it turns into Beaver Creek Rd. Somewhere between mile post 8 and mile post 9&3/4. Follow that road another 12 miles, turn left on Bear Creek Rd. be sure to go fast right past the bear, No, Not right,,,at the bear.,, just GO FAST....
Leave the package either with the bear, or by the 3rd tree with a red X on it???

Heh, ordering clothes from S&R... brings back memories...

Most often mom would get material and patterns and sew my school clothes...

But it was such a treat to open up the delivery Bags from S&R stuff didn't come in boxes like today, it was in this thick cardboard like bag packaging...

Also, being raised as an airforce brat, we frequently would visit the BX... another catalog like store on base stuff would be ordered, then we'd get it in a few weeks...

I feel so old now... and I barely remember the moon landings...

I ordered a chins 12v 100ah earlier today. The 48v rocked for the houses main stuff so I ordered the 12v to add to the 12v stuff since it runs the shop window ac so more ah doesn't hurt especially with winter coming up (runs the heating pads for the batteries too).

We will see how the new 12v chins are doing.
