On a boat usually.
So since I'm building myself a more portable unit, I came across this:

Evasive 12v 100Ah LFP battery - $169

Sure, it doesn't have bluetooth or low temp protection, but looking at Docan it's $240 for just that many cells, so I'll be robbing these for the guts. It's still a good deal though!

Update: Just tore the lid off, looks... odd. See below.

The guts: looks weird... waitaminute... is that a balancer??

Nope, I think that's the actual "BMS" in there! No idea how that's supposed to protect anything!

Pouch cells, that explains some. Still going to put in a proper Daly BMS though. Plus sude, all screws, no solder which makes it good!

My capacity tester seems to have been left at the camp somehow, so I'll have to guesstimate when I get it refit.

Refit later!

I looked online and Daly says this is a 5A balancer. On their website they show a rendering of four lifepo4 cells with a Daly bms and this balancer. Hmmmm.
I ordered a Kepworth 300ah lifepo4 battery from Amazon. After seeing this I'm seriously considering opening it up to see what, if anything, is in there. It's supposed to arrive Feb 6-7.
Hopefully it's what it's advertised as being.

New BMS installed. One thing that always bothered me about Daly are the obnoxiously short leads permanently mounted...

Fortunately it's 4awg wire and nuts & bolts which made mounting the leads much easier.

It's currently taking in 11a and I'm starting on its brother battery.
